Ok some real news to discuss on the Not606 boards. Red Bull have anounced that their Renault Engines will be rebadged as 'Infiniti'. Infiniti is a subdivision of renaults Sister company Nissan. The Deal will mean Red Bull will save ã8million as the engines will be given for free and paid for by Infiniti. Im Sure Renault are actually happy with this deal too because Red Bull can no longer bad mouth the 'Renault' engine when they WILL blow up. Maybe they will have to lay the excuses finnaly on themselves.
I'm looking forward to if VW enter the F1 engine world and use Skoda branding rather than Audi On a serious note I'm sure ã8m will cover some serious research into bendy wings that are just about solid enough. So I think both parties should be happy enough.
I'm not sure what to think really. There are loads of 'sub-manufactures' of cars out there, like Opel for Vauxhall, RUF for Porsche and AC Cars for Shelby. But as many other manufacturers own each other these days, it'll be the case of pretty much what you two have said-choose one of the manufactures they own that isn't doing that well, let them make engines for an F1 team, then if they go wrong it's all their fault, and the big company get away scott free
Very good point actually, They would go from Benetton-->Renault-->Lotus-Renault-->Lotus-Infiniti maybe?
Nor did I actually, but my dad used to know mr Toleman before he ran away to south africa and was never heard of again
My dad wasn't into F1 like I am at the same age, but my grandad is a big fan of racing, but sometimes forgets things in F1!
Its basically just an advertising ploy that works nicely for Red Bull. I'm guessing they won't have banked on this happening, which gives them the ã8m for mid season development in theory? They should be strong all season in which case, as no other team will have that sort of money left unspent!
RBR are looking to use some of their technical knowledge as well, particularly with Kers. Infiniti are a branch of Nissan who have pedigree in this area having designed the Leaf. Could be a very useful partnership for them.
Infiniti have just come out saying they are only a sponsor and paying for the engines. The Engines will still be called Renault and the Renault Badges will still be on the car
Also a note to my comment above Infiniti and Nissan will be giving Technical help with KERS as they have a successful KERs program for their road cars.
