Yes, I shall repeat it again slowly so you understand - 2 points dropped by us. We were more of a threat than you going forward. Merry Christmas.
Did thee see the sheer commitment of young Ward for his goal? Can tell he was a local lad - no thought of danger just scoring - actually meant something to him when he kissed the badge too - and the only player to applaud all the Pompey fans after the game too! Nice one Joel - Pompey Fan = Excellent effort from the player - like it used to be!
I'd say we had 2, maybe 3, but Schneiderlin one wasn't clear cut, and you had one, we were both poor and overall think the draw was a fair result.
You also took to negative tactics tbh. Lallana was kicked endlessly as was schneiderlin and occasionally guly. You tried it with lambert but he pounded you.
2 dropped points for us against poor opposition . Didn't play well, draw a fair result and as for a spanking SB3 , what a clown you are
It's funny all these '2 points dropped' comments. It's called defending well. you couldn't get past us in open play. And supersaint18, anything we did, you did better (except scoring of course )
I am dissapointed Appleton played a 4-4-1-1 formation, had he gone with an aggressive 4-4-2 from the outset and gone for your throats(as previously) then we could well have given you the spanking for which I had hoped. As it was Lawrence was in my view not entirely match fit and we could have done better. However, my major disappointment today was being unable to hear Westwoods Bugle playing, as the chant about how we dislike the scummers was deafening! I four-one felt the draw was a fair result on balance.
Defended well against a good team, gotta be happy with it, we were pretty lucky if you look at from when the scum scored... ward is a top player and full of commitment, same cant be said for your guly, he's your kitson!! can't wait to thrash ya in your own back yard next year. and outsing you. Although outsinging you's easy.
Blue forever Watching the match on TV I felt that Kitson worked really hard for your team all match despite getting little service from the midfield. He definately put more effort in than our front line but, to be honest, it was a shockingly poor game with the crowd seeming to have intimidated both teams. I felt Saints were very poor this afternoon and we never got to see any of the innovative football that has carved other feams aprt this season. If I am honest, the league table position and the number of points accumulated flattered Saints on this basis of this one game and, as I said on the Saints board, other than Lallana and Lambert's shooting boots, the teams looked very similar in ability. However, what I would say is that this was one of the worse performances I have seen us put in this season and we are capable of stepping up a level - something that I cannot really comment about with regard to Pompey albeit it appeared to me that Appleton wants to stop the boat rocking so that you don't get dragged into an unnecessary relegation scrap. The current Pompey squad is extremely young and inexperienced and if I was a supporter, would be optimistic. However, I think you have met Saints during a stage when we appear to have had a dip in form. The question we will need to ask is whether the purple patch we enjoyed was just a flash in the pan or indicative that we can achieve successive promotions. I think we will finish in the play-offs.
Yeah perhaps you're right. I find it hard to tell with Kitson as he sometimes works hard but other times he just looks like he's not bothered. I was impressed by a couple of your forward moves, you definitely have a little bit more quality than us, atm. The game itself was ok, but not great, the atmosphere made up for it though.
In my opinion, I think neither side was particularly good. Southampton were the better side but that's to be expected as they're top of the league. Saying that, they weren't that much better than us until we scored then for a period, Southampton were playing much better than us. Portsmouth played alright and had a few good bits of possession until Southampton scored which seemed to badly affect us. The atmosphere was good though.
After we scored, for 10 or 15 minutes we actually played like the team who was top of the league, nice passing and good movement, but ultimately didn't get a 2nd, and paid the price.
Apparently the free kick for Southampton's goal shouldn't have been given as Kitson was apparently fouled. I couldn't see as there was a metal post in the way, should it have been given?
I wouldn't worry about that mate I would be more concerned about my centre back not giving a ****e despite the fact rickie is unstoppable.
I know we tried taking the free kick quickly and the ref stopped us, pissed me right off at the time, not 30 seconds later though
Hi all. Having seen the recording I've made, the challenge by Lambert, in scoring, was more of a foul, than the foul the ref gave, for the free kick that led up to it. I don't think Lambert fouled myself, I hasten to add, and the original foul that led to Saint's goal was a joke. Draw was a fair result, in a terrible game of football.
