no rooney dig this time but I am hearing from media sources that the referee will state in his match program that he never sore the incident and that he only stopped the game due to a head injury he believed was due to a clash of heads. Seems likely wayne will get a ban, so should we appeal to allow him to play VS Chelsea and risk further banning or should he take the ban and move on?
The ref should not have awarded a free kick (that's what he gave) if he didn't see the incident. Rooney will in all likelihood get banned but it's a bit of a joke imo. Lawrensen and Hansen's hatred has succeeded and that is just plain wrong.
I think we would/ should definately appeal if he is banned, we did it back when Rio whacked someone a couple seasons back....
Ref didn't see that one. This ref did see Rooney's "foul" so the ref's decision should be final. He'll get banned nonetheless. United players always do.
Yeah, but we still appealed Rio's ban so he could play City... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/8487290.stm They'll propably make an example of him anyway. And so they should, or it sends out the wrong message. To be honest I hope he is fined by United for this, regardless
Rio's was completely different. The ref gave a free kick this time, indicating that he'd dealt with the incident.
I know........... But FA may go against their rules, to make an example of him (after all the fuss). The point I am making is that he can still appeal, regardless. Technically speaking, he shouldn't need to appeal, as he shouldn't recieve a ban.... The referee failed to note the severity of it, but we'll see what happens....
They will go against the rules, won't they? Funny how these precedents always disadvantage Howard Webb's favourite team.
I have no upsets if he is banned. Maybe it will send him a message that he needs to cut out that behavior. We have Chica and Berba who are good enough to stand in
Clattenburg, didn't see. He reacted to the players' and crowds' reactions. He will have to come out and say he didn't see it, otherwise he is screwed, because the FA will ask: "if you saw it why did you red card him?" He will struggle to get a big game with a mistake of that importance.... This is why, he will likely be banned.
This is why Incidents like this should be reviewed by a panel of ex- refs, not currently employed refs.
