Well a good day out, just the right amount of edge between the sets of fans IMO....that police operation must have cost close on six figures what with the chopper and the amount of overtime claimed Did it's job I suppose but at a hell of a cost
It was there for all to see live on BBC how the skates celebrated like it was a champions league final at the final whistle. Embarrassing i think, especially as they have been talking themselves up for the last few years.
Two Pompey fans that I know walked past my house last night after seeing te game. I asked how it was and try replied 'Southampton were incredible, and so much better. We were lucky to get anything' For once honest, and respecting Pompey fans. Not 18 year old chavs that talk their team up saying how they're gna tear the scum. Then after the game it was...'we held the scummers to a draw' Pathetic!
A mere fraction of the cost of the recent Royal Wedding, and far more entertaining and actually relevant, too.
the photos in the echo say it all really. the look on the Pompey fans as they snarl and hurl abusee at any saints player near the touchline speks volumes.
Hi olddellboy - the "snarls" on the Pompey fans faces were probably down to the fact they were gasping for breath following the two flares being ignited in the Milton End of the ground ! The smell was putrid, we were sitting some way away in the South Stand Lower, and it even reached us after a while. Agree, there does appear to be "mutual hatred" between certain elements of followers of both teams. Banter was brilliant, and no trouble between fans, and only a couple of arrests made by the Police. Good result overall
Is this worth a bump now the derby is on the horizon? I can't wait - All together now, Who the **** is laughing now!?
I'm sure others will come up with something better - I'm no good at starting things It's bumped it back to the top to be noticed!
Good comeback, you didn't bite! If we lose, I will be on here to take my lumps. I wasn't on any forum, the last time we lost to Southampton, I was at the game though, FA cup 2005/6 was it?
Guys this is a bit early for this thread so we are going to close it.....if you want it open again we can always open it nearer the time........We still have other matches to play so lets not get wound up talking about our local derby until nearer the time!!
Would have been FA Cup season 2004/2005, January 2005 I think it was? You've won the 3 games since but thats about to change
You didn't care last time :'( Okay, could you reopen is once the Blackpool game is out the way on Sunday Morning perhaps?
