Anyone a bit nervous about our game vs WBA?

  1. I'm not panicking, but something about this game - wednesday night and against a team who we have a ****e record against... I dunno just something about the game just makes me nervous.

I really want us to take the 6pts from our next two games to keep us in the top 7 before Liverpool and Manure.

The line up I would play -

    ----------------------Ba------------------------

    -------------------------HBA--------------------

    Jonas------Tiote--------------Abeid--------Obertan

    Santon-----Colo--------------Williamson-----Simpson

    ---------------------Krul--------------------------

We cannot play two target men vs WBA IMO, it would be playing into Olson and Sharner's hands, who are both great in the air.

We will need a central midfield spark seeing as Cabaye is out, who I think we will definitely miss for his creative abilities. HBA could provide the flair and the bit of magic to nick this game for us.

Abeid, from what I've seen of him, looks very tidy on the ball and could do a job there. I think Vuckic is a good prospect, but IMO he's a CAM, not a center mid, like Ben Arfa.

    Anyone else agree with this?

Hoofball wont get us anywhere, and we get something totally different from HBA, someone that can run down the center with the ball, draw out defenders and leave them for dead.

I could sort of see why he maybe didn't start today, as Pardew obviously thought our lack of height may have cost us a result whilst defending, but why he didn't get a sub appearance is beyond me. If you want a goal, you surely bring on HBA not Sammy and Shola.

Definitely agree about not playing two target men against West Brom as it will fail.

I'm always nervous for when we play them as a mate supports them. I'm hoping we play as well as we did against Swansea and we'll be fine <ok>

Vuckic will probably start alongside Tiote, and HBA wont even get on the pitch.

Tash. Why on earth would you start Obertan? If you took anything from yesterdays game it was he is the original headless chicken. The bloke needs to watch a few Gareth Bale videos . Run fast the cross balls into box. End of.

I'd like to see Abeid given a run out mid second half as well if the circumstances are right.

  10. He wasn't **** yesterday. He worked hard, tracked back well and used his pace well at times. He put a brilliant ball across the deck of the Swansea box but no one was there.

Not much point in putting the ball to nobody. You're supposed to look up and pick a member of your own team out to pass the ball to. Not such a brilliant ball after all.

I'm not all that nervous tbh.

Play like we did against Swansea and the goals will come! I'm confident we'll get the 3 points :)

  16. Well that's ridiculous, so you're saying every cross that doesn't find one of your players is a **** cross?

It was a very threatening ball and all it needed was a touch from one of our players and it would have been in. As a player all you can do sometimes is try your best to put it into a great area and hope that one of your players will get to it.

Jonas quite often goes entire games without putting in a good cross but gets a lot of praise, Ober may not have put in a load of quality deliveries but his overall performance was good. He tracked back well, covered Simmo, and played well with the team.

I agree with what you say about crosses, but Obertan was very poor yesterday. I fail to see how anyone can say he had a "good" performance. He needs to be dropped to the bench, and we should give him a chance an an impact sub.

  18. Raylor is a great crossed of the ball and a good passer of the ball, and I suppose we do need a set piece expert now Cabaye is out.

Obertan gave them nightmares first half, people just hate regardless, it was the same when Jonas first arrived, everyone said he was **** for the first three years even though he was doing a good job. I honestly don't know what people expect from Obertan, if he was skipping past people and whipping Beckhamesque crosses into the box he'd have moved to Madrid in the summer for £60m, not to Newcastle for £3m.

I thought he had a better first half than I've seen him play yet, a bit more direct and a few good balls in, unfortunately he barely saw the ball second half. His confidence seems to be shot, and the groans from the crowd if he makes a minor error don't help. He could do with a break in fairness to allow him a few impact sub appearances, but unfortunately he's the only option right wing so he's in there for now.
