would it bother you? For me I hope we do strengthen the squad but if the right players are not available I would rather us just look at using up the last loan and giving MON a few months extra with the current lot to decide who stays and who goes in the summer, with a big turnaround in the playing staff during the summer. If we get the injured players back Campbell especially I think under MON we can slowly start to move up the league
Poolie. we will do signings, and as we talked last week, I hope Samba is the first through the door. who leaves will not affect me, I believe in MoN. And as you know I was a fervant BOB, but MoN needs to sort his own team out. will GYAN return? I dont believe so, but then again Who knows.
Samba for me too. But the first job - this month - is for O'Neill to talk on the phone to Gyan. If they get along, then all we need for a striker is a 5 month loan to bridge the gap till Gyan comes back. If they don't get along, we need a permanent replacement. I think Martin and Asamoah are both good pros and can do business, but only talking to each other will tell. We need to clear this up before wasting money in January. That money could be used for Samba.
I hear the constant LB and LW but dont see it TBH. I think MON will not have a bottomless war chest so will need to prioratise and with Badsley and Richardson, who I like, and Mclean and Sess, even Richardson again I dont think they are January priorities, summer maybe. RB concerms me because for all O'Sheas experience he has been a major let down but numder one signing must be a goal scorer. We make chance after chance, still have a good defence and can get by in midfield, summe is big change around time. I would be happy with an Owen type short term signing.
Personally, i think we have what we need at the club already, we're just not using them, or at least under Bruce we weren't getting the best out of them. Whickam, Ji, Bendtner, Noble, given a run of games and some much needed confidence and beleif i think any, or all of those mentioned are more than capable of getting us goals. I also agree that a proven goal scorer would be handy but who? there's not that many quality strikers going begging right now.
NEWCASTLE are *heading for a Tyne and Wear tug-of-war for Aston Villa defender James Collins. Toon boss Alan Pardew is lining up a £5million January swoop for 28-year-old Welsh star Collins – but Sunderland are ready to enter the race, with Martin O’Neill hoping to snap up the centre-half for a second time. Yet Villa chief Alex McLeish is desperate to hang on to his Wales *centre-half, although he will let another defender, Shane Lowry, leave. New Black Cats boss O’Neill signed Collins from West Ham in 2009 when he was boss at Villa Park and he is ready to pounce again for the defender who has 18 months left on his deal. Although Collins recently spoke of his desire to extend his stay at Villa, Pardew and O’Neill believe they can tempt him to the north east.
I whould like: Catts out = ?m Samba and one more player in (LB) = ?M Also i think richardson isnt going to be playing LB anymore because MON doesnt need him there and ses he can play better LM
there is no way they will be a big turn around in the playing staff, we already have a very decent squad ,just need a few quality players to add to what we have
We still need LB,LW,CB and a striker or two, nothing has changed after 1 game lads we still need these players asap. Not sure we'll get them mind and if it's only one, then a striker who can actually score goals and not some non entity who thinks he's better than he is (cue hat trick).
do we need a lw tho?? richardson can play there and mclean looked very promising!! def need a goal getting striker tho or maybe just try noble out as he has a amazing goal scoring record..
Agree Richardson is decent there and McLean looked good in one game against the bottom club not reading too much into that to be honest, just hope he can keep it up. We need them for competition mate the better they are the better we become and the better the young players have to be to get into the team. SAFC have been missing competition for places for years that is one of the reasons for our current plight.
agree there mate competition for places is key but we already have a good starting point its not as if o'niell has to come in and totally change the team like weve seen for the past couple of years!! but to be fair to bruce i think he done a great job getting rid of some of the ****e he had, i think o'niell has a good platform to build from and if we want to move on to be a top 10 team he only needs a couple of really good players not 5/6 like some seem to think...
He may have a platform...but for a top 10 team, the squad is miles away, and requires more than 2 players.... Elmo, Catts, Ji, Colback, Bramble (O'Shea at present) Ricco...to name a few are not top half prem players...Bottom half maybe... Now this is MoN job, to either make them into it, or changes will be required.
