what are the odds of Villa's keeper having an absolute ****ing blinder this week? What is it with goalies pulling it out of the bag against us??
Well it won't be Given who is quality, is it Guzan? I don't really care for him and think there are better keepers in the US than him!
Come on! Maybe we need a tough ish apponent to make us more clinical. please log in to view this image
This is one game that I'd definitely expect to be a tight, low scoring one, but as the ones where I thought we'd get a shedload have been the opposite to our expectations perhaps this too will go against type. 5-3 to us. Only joking. 1-0 with any luck. We can't afford any more draws, never mind defeats.
Who's in goal for Villa then? Given out...hasn't made much of a difference this season when 2nd/3rd choice keepers are concerned.
Brad Guzan. USA International goalkeeper. I remember him saving 4 penalties (1 in normal time & 3 in a penalty shoot-out) in a League Cup game once so he's a decent keeper.
Head-to-head. Villa won at home to Liverpool for the first time in 13 attempts on the final day of last season, when Stewart Downing scored the only goal. Liverpool had won seven and drawn five of their previous 12 league visits to Villa Park. However, Kenny Dalglish has yet to win a league match at Villa in charge of Liverpool, drawing all five visits in his first spell and losing 1-0 last season. Aston Villa. Villa, who have only averaged a point per game from their last eight matches, next host Arsenal and then visit Stoke and Chelsea before the end of the year. Alex McLeish's side have dropped nine points from winning positions - only Blackburn (12) and West Brom (11) have fared worse. They have conceded a league-high 32% of goals from corners. Darren Bent's five goals this season have all come at Villa Park. Stiliyan Petrov has scored three league goals this season - as many as in the previous four seasons combined. His last goal at Villa Park came on the opening day of last season, against West Ham. Emile Heskey scored 60 goals in 228 appearances for Liverpool between 2001 and 2004. Stephen Ireland awaits his 200th club career appearance. Liverpool. Liverpool have only lost one of their last 10 league matches (W5, D4, L1). They have the best defensive record in the top flight, conceding only 13 goals and keeping five clean sheets. The Reds have hit the woodwork more times than any other team this season (15). Summer signing Stewart Downing is expected to make his 300th club career start. He scored nine goals in 63 league appearances for Villa between 2009 and 2011. Daniel Agger is poised for his 150th Liverpool appearance, while central defensive partner Martin Skrtel should make his 100th league start for the club.
Isnt Agbonlahor out too I can see us linin up Reina Jonno Skrtel Agger Jose Dirk Hendo Adam Downing Suarez Bellamy
Yeah, suspended for this game after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season. Good news for us becuase Agbonlahor has looked like a good player this season.
That's just the thing though. He's garbage 99 times out of 100. Knowing our luck, we'll be his next big performance.
9 am kickoff for me......best believe I am watching! I think the curse is on Zingaling now, he needs to "leave the room" and we will be in business!
If it is Guzan he does not like coming out for balls which could suit Carroll, although Bellers, Maxi, Suarez will torment Colins and Dunne more I feel than Carroll or Kuyt.
Great having so many games on tv lately. Downing will be up for playing against his old club. Bellamy and Suarez up front for me.
Bugger- Bluff's watching. We're doomed. We'll hit the woodwork 11 times and Villa will score in the 95th.
