I'm sure the Defoe coming back as coach was brought up after his little visit the other month.

Surely it would have already happened if there were any truth in it.

I can imagine some of our players away at AFCON telling others how much fun they're having here. :emoticon-0105-wink:
I've been saying that all week.

Our players will be putting out the good word about Sunderland ...

... and, at the very least, engaging supporters in Africa who'll watch our games.

I've done that myself and , yesterday, the replacement postman asked me if I was 'the Mackem' his whole office were talking about. On the estate all the staff watch our games and keep an eye out for our games. Two of the gardeners are coming to our game against Fulham if there's any tickets.

Strange window coming up for Wolves with them dead and buried…

Vultures will be circling to pick off any 'talent' they have in the squad. Don't know if they have any decent youngsters on the fringes, but I'd imagine clubs will be in for them as well

Depends on if we are wanting a similar profile to Brobbey. I love Isidor but I don’t think his profile fits our system these days.

Someone who can hold it up and get involved in the build up seems much more a fit as Brobbey has shown for me
Close to the halfway point in the season and only 2 players are into double digts for goals.
Shows finding a regular scorer is difficult.

People saying we need a "goalscorer" are in for a disappointment. These days to guarantee goals at this level you are looking at having to pay over £60m plus. We are maybe a season away from paying those types of fees on one player.

Yeah, Phillips was obviously a bargain, we paid a few bob for Bent and Defoe.
Let's hope the recruitment squad have processed all their data and stats and have a few in mind.

Atm Brobby ( holds the ball up back to goal)and Isidor ( on the shoulder and speed) offer different styles, a fox in the box style would be a useful

100% but tbf i'm quite confident Brobbey and another striker in a similar mould to him can be 'goalscorers' at this level. I think signing a top winger or two in Jan who's got that creative edge will help a lot for that
