It should never be underestimated the importance of hard work and playing for the manager. This squad seem to be willing to work harder than most for their manager.
the game develops and changes and some managers embrace it and some are wedded to their own tactics. I critics FARKE for being an arrogant self obsessed coach who refuses to change. That theory is wrong however as DF has moved to a long throw routine weeks ago. I reckon he has looked at his squad which is lacking up front and decided to use the weapons he invested in and that would mean he doesn’t need to have Dan James who is now out for 8 weeks and he doesn’t need Okafor or Aaronson. He now has 3/4 strikers who would love to work as a 2 up top and I include Gnonto who shouldn’t be underestimated as a second striker. He’s done that for Italy. He also has Okafor who can do it. He has at his disposal 3 CBs plus Bornauw, 2 wing backs plus Justin a shed load of DMs so why not use what you have. I believe he is recognising he has more success playing to his strongest weapons and if he carries on getting a tune out of this andngetsnsime ammo up front in January he may have 2 real systems to use and swap. The ball is firmly in his court now. I was happy after we lost to City but because we won the second half 2-1 and obviously happy last night. We have scored 5 and conceded 2 in the last 135 minutes which is a massive improvement on the 12 previous games
What do we think to this strategy of passing the ball back from an attacking position… all the way back to the keeper for him to hoof it long (with varying degrees of accuracy). I understand the logic that if the opposition defence is set, the act of passing back will draw them out and creat space improving the chances of picking up the second ball from the keeper’s hoof. So I understand the logic (I think) but I’m not sure it really works. Most of the time you just give the ball back to the opposition in what is an infuriating manner. Are the percentages worth it v a regulation lumped cross into the box from the man originally in possession?
Had to make something out of it for saying up the Scum.... Yes, £ [email protected] Return: £ 18.00 Won Both Teams To Score Man Utd v West Ham
Its as simple as going long to a big bastard up front and getting team mates around him to pick up the pieces with runners giving options. Same scenario would work in a 4-3-3 but committing the wingers forward to play off DCL or Nmecha. Aaronson cant do it.
yeh I understand the wingers were meant to pick up the second balls in 433, but usually weren’t close enough. My comment wasn’t really about formation more about the tactic. as I watched us pass back to Perri from a promising position only for him to slice it off the pitch a few times. It left me leaving wondering what the point was.
