See what happens with Elliott in Jan. article on him on bbc, didn’t realise just how little he had played there. 96 mins of football - loan really hasn’t worked out for him. Villa have obligation to buy for £35m if plays 10 games so wonder if will be some agreement to come back to Liverpool in January. Could be an option to play RW when Salah is away as our wingers are no longer speedy down the wing beat a man type and could play that more inside role with Frimpong/bradley overlapping.
Sorry, I am so used to talking in the millions I forget others would see it as sixty five pounds. I can only apologise.
As I understand it we can't take him back, unless Villa pay not to buy him and cut the loan short. Only at the end of the season will he come back to us if he doesn't play enough. For all intents and purposes we've already sold him.
Hence the ‘I wonder if some agreement to come back in Jan’. Villa won’t want to keep him until the summer and just not play him if don’t want to keep him. he won’t want to stay at Villa not playing. and lfc won’t want him sitting their not playing if Villa aren’t going to buy him as value just drops.
And he can't play for anyone else because he's already played for both Liverpool and Villa this year. He could play at a club whose season is a different time frame to ours, such as MLS.
Depending on which sources you read, there either is or isn't a recall clause in the loan deal. If there is a recall, the problem for Liverpool then becomes do they end the loan and have him back playing in roughly Salah's position, which will mean they forego the £35m (I think) possible transfer fee.
tbh the game i saw him in he was awful but he also looked like he would rather be anywhere else but there and it looks like the feelings mutual . I did say at the time that Villa seemed a strange choice from both player and Villa pov
