God getting involved to stop us losing again and giving us a chance to win a home game that season... (If you're religious!)

One game I remember being soaked at was against Southend under Butcher or Buxton, it probably wasn't as bad as some others where I've probably been soaked more, but it sticks in my mind. It was late November, mostly sleet and rain and we lost 2-0 at home. We were on an awful run of form at the time, it was either Butchers last game in charge or Buxtons first. It sticks in my mind as we made Southend look like Brazil, we were that bad. It was cold, heavy sleet and rain, we looked bereft of confidence, there was only about 15k there, and we were outplayed by a team with Brett Angell leading the line.
I wasn't but a couple of my mates went. They said they stopped off before getting to Accrington and a bloke said it would either be postponed or abandoned. Apparently then the pitch was notorious for not draining properly, it was mostly clay soil so got waterlogged easily. When they got to the ground and saw the state of it and the rain coming down they thought it would be called off. The conspiracy theory at the time was that it only went ahead because the Accrington chairman pushed for it as it was their biggest crowd of the season and they'd spent a lot on "refreshments" and couldn't afford the refund. We were winning 1-0 and one of the lads said a bloke nearby said"if they equalise he'll abandon it". About 10 minutes later they did and sure enough just afterwards he abandoned the game. Everyone said it should never have started, you could tell it was virtually unplayable.
I think yesterday’s game highlighted that the roof needs sorting in the Jimmy Monty stand. A few lads near me were getting dripped on at the back and there was a mini waterfall near the front of the roof.
I'd say Stoke last year for me that was biblical. I did chuckle to myself yesterday when about 2 mins in a steward walked to his stool picked it up and poured a gallon of water of it then proceed to sit down on it and get soaked for about 2 hours. At least we had the match to distract us that poor bastard had to stare at the crowd all afternoon.
My lad was at Boro with Derby yesterday. They drove home in their pants as well He rang me 10 minutes from home and said get him hot water bottles in his bed. A bit like when we were bairns they go everywhere in a knackered old fiesta with ****e heating and a back window that has an inch that wont close. Where the memories come from though
I'd came back from uni for that one as well. They scored early then George MCartney went on a slide tackle that went on about 20 yards and smashed into one of our lads and broke his nose. The ref called it off basically at that point. Must have been 15 mins no more gone.
