Also worth mentioning that Burn is/was third choice at left back and would not have played at left back if either the first or second voices had been available.

The first part is your assumption and the second part is easily countered by the fact Burn only moved following a suspension not an outright decision

When did I say Hall was a mistake? I've always liked him. It's not about getting things right or wrong, it's about watching the game and supporting the team, not predicting everything that will happen after a handful of games.

Roly doesn't support the team, he just wallows in misery and doggedly sticks by his negative points no matter how wrong they get proved - Barnes is a total waste of money, Wissa is rubbish despite the fact he hasn't played, Howe out, blah blah....belittling the "milk cup" Howe won was a new low recently.

GG is different in that he's up and down like a jack in the box and totally manic and reactionary, but has the same misguided defeatism the second anything may go slightly wrong.

Just watch the games and let's be concerned with who said what and who got what right or wrong.

Like I say it's easy to pick at individuals, but I'm simply pointing out that we all get things right and wrong...from the happy clappers to the bedwetters we're all equally useless.

Everything said on a message board is obviously point in time and and I don't rigidly stand by and defend everything I say to the hilt. This is where Roly goes wrong when he stands by his anti Barnes stuff when he's playing out of his skin. So in context here, Hall was hardly being played and we hadn't seen any of his potential to warrant a spend like that....he came strongly into the team after that, and then was brilliant last year, so his reputation clearly grew massively from then on.

Again, it's pointless to try to call things far out in the future, cos none of us know what will happen.

As soon as Hall got fit again he went straight into the team, it was never in Howe's mind to play Burn there long term, it was only ever a fix/cover for Hall being out.

Pope is different, was he dropped cos of form or the injury? We don't know, but Ramsdale should keep his place, not much to do yesterday, but still looked much less flappy and erratic than Pope.

People going after managers is the tedious one for me, if it's an extremely bad sustained run then fair enough, but the whole braindead troll thing of internet twats wanting the managers sacked every time a team loses is why social media is so tedious.

Although I did take up the price boost for Fernandes to have one shot on target, so as long as he just boots it at the goal and doesn't score, it's all good.

When Tino and Hall are both fit they make a huge difference to how we play. And Thiaw is looking awesone.

I like that a fit Anthony Gordon started on the bench yesterday. He needs to realise he doesn't just walk staight into this team. Hopefully that's the kick up the arse he's needed and he'll now get his head back into his game properly.

Likewise Pope, whether he's truly injured or just being 'rested', a little time-out won't do him any harm. And it gives Ramsdale a chance to make a claim for the #1 shirt.

Elanga looked a little better last night, but I'd currenrly still favour Murphy in terms of form (can't believe I'm typing that).

Miley had a really good game and Willock seems to be improving again. So we finally have options to rotate / rest players in midfield, so Bruno and Tonal don't burn out.

Although just like Elanga, whenever Ramsey comes on, he looks like he's a bit off the pace and makes some poor decisions. Tricky one as the best way to really fix that is to get more game time, but then do you risk playing someone who looks off the pace? At the moment, he's 6th choice midfielder for me.

I don't think it's ever a singular issue. I think the gk and the full backs being changed are equally as significant, but I agree with what you're saying in general.

Tonali? I'm not seeing it, sorry I know its like when your mate is telling you your lass isn't as good for you as you think, but we know how that ends.

The way Spurs play, I think we really do need to have Tino and Hall at fullbacks - if they are both fit enough to play again in midweek as well (after recently recovering from injuries).

If they both start then I'll feel more confident about this one.

Was a bit tied up yesterday but seems a bit odd that everyone who stands unquestioning by some of the poorer decisions and performances is vindicated when we play well, but when the reverse happens those who are questioning it are plastic fans or non-supporters!

We all won yesterday. Pope didn’t play, and shouldn’t be anywhere near this side - Ramsdale is still a backup level player but miles ahead of Pope. Burn was in his position, and was excellent, Gordon wasn’t auto-selected and we played against the perfect opponent who set up to try and be a big team with possession but who have a very average squad. Allowed us to counter and play the game we are very familiar with. The challenge is how do we, the team, the manager find ways against those who sit back, that’s where we come unstuck. I think we could do fine against Spurs, and also Sunderland, as they’re teams who we can expose.

So was great to see Howe grow balls. We need to be better when the drop off from the likes of Hall and Tino happens, we need another way to play as it’s so obvious without them we are a shadow of the side. Everything changes with excellent full backs, midfield have options, CB can focus, and being able to pass to the wide from either CB or keeper (with a keeper who actually can pass) is huge.

Except that is totally irrelevant and ancient history. How or when Hall first got into the team is to analyse why herrings are red.

Hall has been first choice left back, when fit, for a long time now. And, therefore, my points still apply and are 100% correct.

It was two weeks ago and for all you know joelinton or an unknown is the best left back at the club that's never played there.
