... just to cap an enjoyable day of football off; Phil Foden breaks plucky Leeds hearts with injury time winner! Enjoy your beers tonight you Hull 'whites', cos I certainly will
Who’s this A Connolly knocking them in for Orient and topping the League One scoring charts? He might be worth a punt.
Free live football at 1100 British time today on www.sportal.gr with the Greek Super League 2 clash between Ellas Syrou and Athens Kallithea. If Syros win, they will be on the cusp of the play off places (in a ten team division top 4 play off for 1 promotion place, bottom six ‘play-out’ to try to avoid four relegation places). Across Super League 2’s North and South divisions (20 clubs) a total of eight teams go down (which is calamitous as you immediately go from pro to amateur status). So for Syros, getting in the top 4 is more a case of ensuring they can’t be relegated. Then on Wednesday at 1130 am British time (ridiculous ko time) the mighty Olympiacos visit Syros in the Greek Cup. A (very unlikely) win would probably see Syros in the last 12 of the cup.
8 in his last 11 games. Good to see him doing well as we all know he is capable. Still only 25 so time to make a good career still.
There's been some talk of the endless negativity of the fans affecting the players during weekly league performances, so players are underperforming and not meeting ridiculously high expectations. It's an interesting debate - few doubt the effect of a positive loud crowd, but does the endless groaning, negativity and silence affect players in team sports - certainly affects the surrounding crowd and tarnishes the atmosphere, I can't stand to listen to endless complaining and moaning and screeching from spectators and armchair/pint-holding critics - maybe clubs need to promote responsible support and that the habit of incessant complaining of a few doesn't bring it down for all.
