Don't think it would be fair if we were reinstated into the Champions League. I agree that the Europa League is a pointless load of **** though, I'd rather we were out of Europe all together.

Bayern Munich would be ****ing raging if we went on to knock them out!We def dont deserve to be reinstated but I would take it with glee.

A team that failed to qualify should go in if they get kicked out. Not a team that already got knocked out.

..Though I wouldn't complain if my team got back in I guess

The Europe is a load of, I keep hearing it, pretty savvy comin from a bunch of people that don't even play pro footy whatsoever.

I know United fans are used to the CL, but you are fans, there are players that would like to have a crack. At least you got a decent early tie

Yeah so Baryern should get a free walk to the quaters? Why should any team knocked out now enter, its a bye round for bayern

If your opponent gets disqualified you get a freebie, surely I am not insane?

I think we can safely say you wouldn't or should I say it is extremely unlikely.

Just thinking, United have already been set up in the EL and paired with Ajax, so I think it is not going to happen or the draw for the EL would be a waste of time

Unlikely but still possible. We'd be far from the worst team left in it.

United being reinstated would be the obvious solution should Basel be disqualified.

Don't agree with Bayern getting a free ride to the quarters or that its somehow unfair.

If Bayern cant beat united they wont be winning the CL anyway.

Don't see it happening... how stupid would the Swiss FA have to be to get itself suspended.

thats true, chelsea are still in there. Was on the spuds board and they were giving UNited and City stick over the CL performance and discussing that fact in a thread about their EL group <doh> because they progressed in their one year they know so much it seems.

Not sure how that would work logistically - who would you put in? Can't be anyone who's qualified for the CL and EL, even the prelims, under that argument so it would have to be a relatively highly ranked team that wasn't in Europe at all this season. Wait a minute...

...you're angling for Liverpool to get in, aren't you? ;)

I dunno - Trabzonspor got upgraded to the CL after Fenerbahce were booted out for match fixing. Tho' this gave Bilbao a bye in the EL. But yeah, a bye for Bayern is fairest, after all it's either a bye for Bayern or a bye for Ajax in the EL, unless they plan to stick Galuti in the EL as well? What a reward for getting nul points in the CL!

Tbh I guess it all depends whether UEFA want to do the right thing, or the thing that makes the most money - putting Utd back in the competition would undoubtedly be the money spinner for them....let's see how fast Platini jumps at the Euro signs. Tho' letting Utd back in would also mean he'd have to eat his words about the EL being a great competition...I reckon hell would freeze over first!

was thinking cash, and agree that would be the money spinner, plus the pair of ye have a bit of history and ye owe em a game after the last meeting.

Liverpool never got into my head, was thinking someone who failed in the qualifiers maybe but not a team that was knocked out, that would just be silly, you fail but you're in, nonsense and the opposite of competition

Anyway, I think it will be settled I don't think the Swiss FA will allow themselves to be kicked out nor do I think Blatter is going to shaft or allow to be shafted his home FA

United wouldnt be the firts to benefit from others not keeping their house in order.

Italian clubs have done so before. Turkish and others.

Surely a team who failed in the qualifiers would be a team that got knocked out as well? Someone like Udinese or Twente got knocked out just the same as Utd, just at an earlier stage in the comp, and the principle of you fail but you're in would still apply.

Either way, as has been said before, I can't see the Swiss FA standing up to FIFA - other associations have been in the same situation and they always buckle. It's why FIFA can walk over the rest of the world of football and Blatter can do whatever he wants.

    That's what you'd think....

But the Swiss FA are obviously a rather stupid and/or weak bunch for allowing Sion to ignore the transfer embargo in the first place. Then allowing a civil bloody court to tell them, the god-damn football association, they can play.

I would say get the best placed 3rd team to replace them...Manchester City. And ignore the fact that they were in the same group with Bayern Munich.
