This window you would think would be different because he tried so hard last season to keep cesc and nasri and for a period i think he thought that nasri at least would stay and he didn't predict wilshere getting injured, yes it was a bit naive but he isn't going to lose a big player in this transfer window so he will have targets but he will try to get the price down for gotze etc so that will take time for negotiations. Also he said that he isn't going to sign podolski does anyone believe that statement? I don't if i'm being honest i think that he has been so heavily linked with him that there must be some truth in it and wenger has this respectable policy about not talking about transfers.
Mrs C loves you really and would let you eat your din dins with real cutlery, despite the advice of the experts
I think we probably do try to get players , it's just that often the agent will be in contact with other clubs and we lose out, so we never hear about it. Wenger then gets criticised for not buying anyone or going for a 'cheap option'.
Wenger may sign someone if he can get one of his targets 'for the right price'. We need another striker or I can see another situation where we end up having to play Arshavin up front. (sigh)
I don't think it always works like that though ... deals are generally more complex than the both the player and the two clubs coming to a agreement months in advance. You only have to look at the summer window to see the amount of late deals and changes in priorities from players and managers alike, it's unpredictable at best. In the short window in January, that's even more amplified - I think Wenger will only go for someone if they become available in January
I have a small feeling that Chamakh will go to the ACON and have an excellent run of games and come back brilliant.
