    Manchester City v Leeds United

    Saturday 29th November@15:00 | Etihad Stadium

Leeds face a daunting trip to the Etihad at the weekend on a terrible run of defeats that leave them in the drop zone for the first time this season. Their opponents Manchester City are going through a blip of their own, aiming to avoid a third successive defeat. Pep Guardiola's side suffered a 2-1 reversal at Newcastle United last weekend before slumping to a 2-0 home loss against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday. Sitting third in the table, seven points adrift of leaders Arsenal, City cannot afford further slip-ups in the title race.

A hangover from those setbacks seems improbable for the Blue side of Manchester. They haven't endured three straight losses since November last year, a trio comprising defeats to Tottenham, Bournemouth, (and Sporting CP in the Champions League). Their previous such run dates back to 2018. Guardiola rotated heavily midweek, making ten changes and benching star striker Erling Haaland, leaving the Norwegian fresh and firing for the weekend. Haaland has plundered 14 Premier League goals this season, eight more than Leeds' entire squad combined, positioning him as the biggest threat to Farke's men.

Injuries continue to hamper City's midfield engine room. Rodri, plagued by fitness niggles throughout the 2025-26 campaign's opening months, remains sidelined but could return by early December. Fellow midfielder Mateo Kovacic, limited to just two substitute outings post-Achilles surgery, is out until mid-March with a heel issue.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke, under intense pressure amid five losses in the past six games, faces pivotal selection calls. USA midfielder Brenden Aaronson has drawn fan ire this term, potentially paving the way for winger Dan James to earn just his fourth start. Top scorer Lukas Nmecha, who bagged his third goal of the season in last week's loss to Aston Villa, is set to lead the line.

£17m summer signing Anton Stach is absent due to concussion protocols after an awkward landing in an aerial duel against Villa. Skipper Ethan Ampadu treads a suspension tightrope on four yellows, a fifth would trigger a one-match ban, per Premier League rules up to match-week 19. Fellow defender Jayden Bogle (three bookings) must also stay disciplined.

Lose this one by less than 7-0 and I’ll be celebrating.

If we lose 6-0 or less then farke has proven himself a better manager than Bielsa and should be backed for the rest of the season. If it’s 8-0 Farke out I say.

I appreciate Bielsa won at Man City the previous year but that was with 10 men so doesn't count.

That's the one. I recall the Sky announcer going bonkers as the scores came in. It was in that odd maroon strip too.
