He's just on a rolling month-to-month contract, but it sounds like he'll be offered a full contract shortly... "Without a doubt I've been impressed with Garc," said Barmby. "We have to sit down with the owners and Adam regarding a new deal for him. "I said last week that with the number of games we have, we'll have to sit down after Christmas regarding the players. "He's been a great professional and a good servant at this club and I won't change my mind about that."
Sounds like the Allams dont wanna give him a deal. NB digging his heels in. I agree with the Allams 2 bad cruciate ligament injuries in 2 years, just the wrong side of 30. It would be stupid to give him a 2 year deal.
I think he's probably got another 2 years in him, however it's always better to take precaution after a player keeps picking up the same injury. Assuming he was on around £5,000-6,000 before the injury, I'd probably try and tie him down to a 1.5 year contract on 4,000p/w with a 2,000 appearance fee in January. He's still a very versatile, hard working squad player who can do a good job in the Championship.
I lke Garcia - always have. Was playing very well this time last year - Palace away televised game on a Sat night when he had to go off. Down in Kent that weekend and met a Palace supporter in a pub that thought he was a real threat. Good old head - good in the air too and able to hold up play when we need to. Hopefully he's still got what it takes at this level since his long iterm injury.
Great servant to the club and his experience will be worth its weight in gold if we're still chasing promotion in the latter stages of the season. Deserves a new contract.
I suspect he'd be happy with another one year deal anyway, he always said he wanted to finish his playing career in Oz.
Give him comfortable senior player contract until end of season, with hefty bonus if he helps us get in PL. I doubt he'd cut it in PL - even as squad player. Review in summer anyway, anther year if we are still in Champs.
I'd go with something similar, 18 month contract that's mainly pay as you play, if he gets to the summer playing a certain number of games without further injuries then it becomes guaranteed full wages next season. If he doesn't then he stays on the small basic plus pay as you play bonuses. Bearing in mind his small basic is going to be more than most of us earn anyway I don't think it's unreasonable.
