It's bloody freezing outside, just put some food out for the hedgehog that's been in our garden. The birds are going mad for the fat balls.

2 - 3" of snow here this morning (10miles inland from Filey ) and still snowing heavily. We hope Tesco can manage to deliver or it's out with the bread machine!

Have the last few governments not got to take a lot of the blame for what happens in this country when we have a flurry of snow, with their ill thought out car policies. To keep emissions down most cars come with low rolling resistant tyres, which to me means less grip between car and road. SHOULD all new car be sold with all weather tyres, as it's not practical for this country to be like other countries with mandatory winter tyres this time of year.

Just had to buy new tyres as mine were almost illegal. Got the job done last weekend. Paid a bit extra and I went for a Goodyear one with superior wet grip. They've paid for themselves this week!

Any sort of grip is appreciated in East Durham at the moment, it's a bit icy on our estate at the moment, hopefully the main roads are better.

Mad weather again. Had to scrape my car windows as it was -1°C when I left for work yesterday morning. It's 14°C this morning according to my garden thermometer.

The birds eat better than I do.

Went shopping yesterday and bought a bag of mixed fruit and nuts, porridge oats, grated mild cheddar ...

    ... all for the birds!
