Think we might have to go back to a 3 at the back, just in the fact we can’t defend crosses with 4 at the back. In fact we can’t defend anything.

i think joseph and gelhardt both need a rest, they both look worn out and it makes sense
they've started every game pretty much

ive said it a few times, but hughes action man play style, when it works, its HUUUUGGGHES, but if you watch, quite a fair few times, he charges in and completely misses the ball
sometimes leading us to be massively exposed
and thats without his heading problems
still young though and a fantastic passer, but he wont go to the next level if he doesnt improve his big flaws

we have ajayi for two more games before he goes to the afcon

and im not judging belloumis performances, im just saying he looks slower and less agile than he did, but hopefully thats just rust and fitness

I thought we shaded it until the defensive cock up that cost us. You could tell we were trying to go for it because not long after they opened the scoring, us losing the ball high up lead to a 4 against 2 breakaway and somehow we kept them out. Another bit of sloppy defending later and it goes 0-2 anyways.

As with many games this season, if we don't make such stupid mistakes at the back then we're probably in the top 2. I don't think it's got anything to do with tactics, the vast majority are just bad errors on our part.

Unfortunately it's not as simple as outscored the opposition now as we're threadbare up top and the fit players are probably knackered at this point.

Who have we got to bring in instead of Joff and Joseph? Injuries and lack of squad depth are killing us atm. look at Ipswich's bench last night. They can rotate and keep the same standard of player on the pitch. If we try to leave Joff out of the team we are immediately weaker and carry even less of a goal threat than we did last night

Anyone else or is it just me thinks Hughes is looking a bit lardy or maybe a bit pissed off? Over the past few games he seems to have got slower and slower on the ball and his feet barely leave the ground if he's going up for a header.

Thought their #5 Matusiwa was excellent last night, precisely the kind of player we need, broke up so much play covered a lot of ground and used the ball v well, like a championship version of Kante

our achilles heel once again - we let too many crosses come in because we give the crosser / winger too much space and we don't have two centre backs who are good enough to command the six yard box and constantly win the ball in the air like we've had with Dawson, Curtis, Maguire and Chester who were clearly Premier League standard - we've not really had anyone of that quality since - I think the only centre backs we've had since then that have flirted with the Premier League have been Burke and Greaves - neither who were particularly successful there, unless I've forgotten anyone

Defensively, Hughes is Greaves 3 years ago. Eager but rash. Likes to come charging out to make tackles, interceptions and win headers but can often mistime them and it’s costly. Greaves used to do the exact same stuff and was lucky to be bailed out by Alfie Jones or whoever was playing left-back a lot of the time.

Last night was probably Hughes’ worst game for us. Just didn’t get his timing right most of the time and was made to look like a bit of a tit. Pandur’s been doing the same **** as a keeper all season. Just no composure at all at the back.

They paid a small fortune for him. But I don’t disagree. We’ve missed a midfield enforcer since Livermore to be honest.

We should stop the crosses, but their goals should be cleared with ease.

In the 10m region I believe, certainly around 10m more than we can afford/are allowed to pay! But that's what money can get you

Yes we've got a soft underbelly and we've had that most of the season but it's usually outweighed by our pressing up top and finishing. Neither are now happening effectively and, for me, that's because we're lacking a backbone. After a reassuringly positive ****housery start to the season we're back to getting bullied again which then sets the nerves jangling and we make mistakes. Hopefully a different story when messrs McBurnie and Lundstrom return, also think Matazo will add a bit of steel as well as flair when, hopefully soon, we see him again.

Watched Sky highlights when I got back mainly to see if their second was offside, looked offside to me from the half way line but having seen the replay it looks like Giles was playing him onside. We really should have had 2 goals in the first half but unfortunately we were **** in the second and gifted them 2 goals. Having said that Ipswich are becoming a decent side and they knew how to play us.

We're just over a third of the way through the season and despite losing 3 of the last 4 games we're in 8th, possible down to 10th after teams with games in hand play. With our injuries and the rush of games ahead we could well be down to lower mid-table by early Jan but even then I still think we can pick up and finish the season strongly if our better players are regularly available.
