It’s why his pace dropped off a cliff, trying to fuel save. they should change the rule so that every car starts full, none of this under filling crap
Three Vegas GPs and all three have been better than average imo. Max drove a very controlled race, got the slightly better start and drew the error from Norris, then held off Russell, before getting a lead he never relinquished. Russell did a good solid job, as did Leclerc and Sainz. Antonelli’s drive was incredible, especially when you consider Hamilton’s race and their respective strategies. Piastri disappointing, I’d like to have seen some more fight from him. Other rookies, Hadjar solid, Bearman seemed to be all over the place on pace (as did Alonso - very much not a rookie!), Bortoleto looked like me when I try one of those F1 games.
Norris and Piastri face possible disqualifications please log in to view this image IMAGE SOURCE, GETTY IMAGES Image caption, Lando Norris leads McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri by 30 points with a maximum of 58 available in the final two races, pending a potential disqualification By Andrew Benson F1 Correspondent in Las Vegas Published 23 November 2025, 05:43 GMT 477 Comments Updated 38 minutes ago Lando Norris and team-mate Oscar Piastri face potentially being disqualified from the Las Vegas Grand Prix for technical infringements. The skid blocks on both cars were found after the race to be less than the minimum depth. The matter has been referred to the stewards but would normally result in disqualification. If they are thrown out of the race, Norris, who finished second to Red Bull's Max Verstappen, would be 24 points ahead of both the Dutchman and Piastri going into the penultimate race of the season in Qatar next weekend. Team principal Andrea Stella's post-race news conference has been delayed and no-one from the team was available to answer media inquiries. There are a maximum of 58 points available in the final two grands prix with Qatar being a sprint event. After Qatar, the final race follows in Abu Dhabi on 7 December..
Just went back to BBC page where your source was from and both McLarens disqualified for skid blocks under minimum.
Absolute horror show. Every time you think you're safe from Max winning again. Additional brutal truth. McLaren need to suck up their pride and implement team orders in Qatar, if the situation arises.
I was wondering if Kimi will get his points back for forth place? Edit...........{-- Did a bit of research myself, and I`ve seen that Kimi has been premoted to 3rd place. Nice one Kimi.
I woke to watch the race then went back to sleep. I dreamt that Lando was disqualified, when I then woke, lo and behold. Abu Dhabi may yet prove to be a nail biter. It certainly isn't boring yet. Fair play to Max, he has seen off all his team mates as well being in the hunt still. Lando needs to keep a cool head for the next two (even three) races, can he?
I believe, after the last race FIA discovered that most teams have been heating the skid blocks to reduce wear on them and the plank. So I think this is the first race that the heaters have been banned!!! It also seems that McLaren have some way of dynamically measuring the skid block heights and that's why Lando was told to 'lift and coast' to reduce the wear on the skid blocks at the end of the straights! Looks like that didn't work! Sets up the last 2 races and sprint to be reasonably exciting.
They were guilty . I want to know why , if the plank heating has been going on , why ban it ? If the second part is true , was Oscar told the same ?
Bit more info on heating skid blocks: https://www.gpfans.com/en/f1-news/1...llegal-skid-block-trick-at-multiple-f1-teams/ Seems like it was stopped between Sprint and race quali in Brazil! Sounds like Oscar had a fair bit of DRS so not as much downforce on the straights, so they thought not as much wear but, if they did have a measuring system then that failed to detect too much wear on both cars!!!
Was this shown on the main feed? I don’t want to kick a man when he’s down, but after the discussion we had about Elkann and whether he was out of line, when I see something like this I do feel like I see where he’s coming from.
Isn’t the line where the video pauses? If it’s the second line after it goes red, he would have been shown the checkered flag.
He's still in the grid slots, unless they have the S/F line somewhere other than where pole sits for some weird reason, he hasn't crossed the line.
I was sure when I’d watched quali that he’d made it over the line to be able to have one last lap, so I went hunting for the track layout and as you say the front of the grid isn’t where the start finish line is. https://www.fia.com/system/files/de...y_map_exits_quarantine_zone_and_red_zones.pdf
