    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Venue - Ashton Gate
    Date - 22 November 2025
    Kick off - 12:30pm

Following their worst performance of the season when they were routed 1-4 at home to Ipswich, the Swans owners and Board decided to wield the axe and terminate Alan Sheehan’s tenure.

However, the appointment of a successor has seemingly been stymied on a couple of occasions meaning that Darren O’Dea has been asked to take temporary charge of team affairs, starting with a tricky looking away match at Bristol City tomorrow.

A fortnight ago, Cameron Burgess scored two own goals against his former club as Ipswich romped to a 4-1 victory away at the struggling Swans.

Jack Clarke's precise finish from outside the area gave Ipswich a half-time advantage over a Swans side who produced their worst home performance of the season.

Goncalo Franco coolly steered home from 15 yards as the Swans rallied at the start of the second period but, having gained some momentum for the first time, Alan Sheehan's team duly handed it back to their opponents.

After Franco lost out in midfield – as he had done in the lead-up to Clarke's opener – Leif Davis surged down the left before his dragged shot deflected off the sliding Burgess and beyond the helpless Lawrence Vigouroux.

The Swans tried to respond once more and thought they were level when Ben Cabango's header was brilliantly turned on to the post by goalkeeper Christian Walton.

But Ipswich pulled clear in the closing stages, with Ivan Azon heading in their third goal - and his first for the club - from a yard out after Vigouroux had parried Dara O'Shea's initial effort.

There was more misery to come for the Swans and Burgess, whose name had been cheered by Ipswich's fans before kick-off as he faced the Tractor Boys for the first time since leaving for Wales in the summer.

With the Swans looking increasingly ragged, Jens Cajuste drilled in a cross from the left and Burgess once more turned the ball beyond Vigouroux as he slid towards his own goal in an attempt to clear.

Ipswich have now taken 10 points from their past four matches, with the unbeaten run lifting Kieran McKenna's team to seventh in the Championship.

But the Swans, who were booed off at half-time and full-time, drop to 18th in the table after a fourth defeat in their past seven league games.

The previous evening, Watford and Bristol City played out an entertaining Friday night draw at Vicarage Road in the Championship.

The Hornets, coming off the back of four consecutive victories at home, took an early lead through Marc Bola's calm finish.

Scott Twine levelled for the injury-depleted visitors on the half-hour mark with a trademark free-kick which caught out Watford keeper Egil Selvik at his near post.

The draw moves Watford up a place to 11th in the table while Bristol City fell one place to 8th.

The Swans have played the Robins on 81 previous occasions, winning 25, losing 32 with 24 draws.

In last season’s corresponding fixture the Swans surprisingly ran out 1-0 victors:

Turning to tomorrow, given the circumstances - and not forgetting that we are usually poor after an international break - I can see nothing other than a comfortable home win: 3-1 to the Robins.

    Hope I’m wrong <cheers>

The home win looks very likely.

Defeat. After the highs of Wales win midweek, I fear a really bumpy landing today.

Thanks Taff. I would like to think we can get a battling point but realistically I think we will be on the wrong side of a 2-1 result.

    Good luck Vitor

    So Matos confirmed.

From the BBC article - "Matos then joined Red Bull Salzburg as number two to Lijnders, but the duo were relieved of their duties by the Austrian club after only six months in charge."
    ......
"Maritimo, who were relegated from Portugal's top division in 2023 after almost four decades at the highest level, finished 12th last season, but currently sit third having won six of their 11 league games under Matos."

So downs and ups and lot of experience with Klopp. Maybe a better appointment than Hellberg? Who knows. Fingers crossed... again

Hopefully this news will bump the morale for today's game and we can fight for a result.

This division is bonkers. We're in 19th yet only one point less nearer the relegation zone than the playoffs

Poor from Idah, should never have been offside and should have scored.

Is there a reason Vip's on the bench?
