He could be the next Mourinho, or he could be the next Selles. We don't know at this point, and it's far more likely to be the latter, but the more he keeps winning, and the more we can see improvement, well if there's no other realistic obvious candidates knocking about, we may as well wait and see. He obviously is higher rated as a coach than the likes of Lallana et al, or they wouldn't have bumped him up like this. There'll be a reason there (even if they've given us little faith in their reasoning to date).
I'm not advocating for him to be given a 3yr deal or anything, but say if we get 4 points+ from our next 3 fixtures, I think you have to think about giving him the job until the end of the season.
I can see Saints getting a draw tomorrow and beating Leicester. The performances are improving and , if my predictions are correct, I would be happy with sticking with him. Might as well back him as someone obscure from Germany. I think this season is a write off. We can afford to stick with him until May and no need to change. Spors clearly rates him and managers have to start somewhere. Makes more sense than speculative punt at this point in time.
I think it's far too early to say performances are improving to be honest. We were still pretty poor at QPR and Wednesday are Wednesday so don't think we can take much from that. I'm actually more intrigued about performance than result over the next couple of games.
I have no idea on SR's thought processes. I'm all for giving younger coaches a chance but I certainly haven't said "give him the job regardless" yet. Winning moves us up the table which gives the club time to and if he continues to keep winning he's putting himself in the window for the job and as a few have already said if we keep winning we might as well keep going with what works. I said earlier if he gets 5+ points from the next 3 games he's likely to get the job (at least to the season end) and he would have got pretty much the same points in 5 games as WS got in 13 games with the same players* * yes some weren't here till the end of the window..
If Saints win tomorrow, it'll be like QPR, more luck than judgment. We all know it - c'mon, you've watched the games like I and nearly everyone else has.
Strange isn't it. Our relationship to losing and negativity is almost like a football stockholm syndrome. We have almost learned to love and crave negativity to the extent that we are pre-empting a potential 3rd win on the bounce with "if it happens its only luck." Yes, we need to start playing well too, but if you keep winning it can't just be luck.
Right, and we’ve had a fair share of bad luck. Lose by bad luck = We’re sh*t! Win by good luck = We’re still sh*t! Something like that anyway. I just want us to win games through sheer determination and spirit. We had the ‘pretty’ football under Martin, and we all complained about that. Not sure what we actually want these days.
I think everyone is completely misunderstanding what I am saying. The discussion was if Tonda wins the next few games he should stay in place as that will be good for the club and team etc. He will have deserved it. My counter is, due to the team, the tactics, the actual players, and the various coaches/managers, it is obvious we are stuck in one way of playing, like playing players out of position, do some really naive and puzzling things during game. So, if we win it will be due to luck and not judgment. Of course I want my team (since 1969) to win games, I want them to win every game, if it is 1-0 and dull, or pass-pass-pass along the edge of the penalty area, so beit. I don't have to watch them, I can see the goal highlights. I am just saying no team has won lots of games, won titles, been promoted, because they were lucky every game. It's not going to happen.
Not too sure you can say that we were lucky before the game has occurred. If anything, you can say we’re a touch unlucky as we don’t have a fit RB.
