See it quite oftern on channels where drivers have posted footage of bad driving recorded on their own dashcam only for them to get hammered by posts pointing out their own poor driving was the thing that caused the issue they were complaining about. I am amazed that insurance firms don't at least insist on us having dashcams fitted or pay extra for cover.
Another motorway one which annoys me - not joining it correctly. Indicating “ right” at top of slip road - well thanks for telling me you don’t intend to turn left through the fence into that field. - I was wondering where you were going. Then no change of speed up or down in order to select a gap to merge into ( the point where you first indicate to show you are going for that gap). Then it’s no more slip road left so they apparently have entitlement to swing onto carriageway and cause a long line of traffic to brake or adjust
I've had a dashcam for years and have absolutely no idea how to download from it if I ever needed to...don't do technology very well
I have to indicate otherwise my car thinks ive fallen asleep and tries to pull me back into the slip road - Lane keep assist its called - its ****ing horrible. I was on the M1 last week around nottingham and theres a land rover sat in the middle lane doing 65 - no traffic either side of him - I was in the left most lane - As i passed him on the inside he was staring at his phone!! FFS Just cant understand why people cant just keep as left as possible.
Skid pans , and some info on snow driving, should be part of driver training. People are passing their test maybe never having driven in snow or ice. Us oldies got plenty of practice and experience before this warming carry on. Me and bro-in-law used to use Tesco car park to practice skidding ( during closing hours !)
Some of the worst culprits are the old though, remember a few years age driving to work early one morning. Taking road through Thorney close, was following a car from Durham Road and he was going really slow in a light dusting of snow, kept back as could see what was going to happen at bank beside thorndale?? club, he got stuck halfway up it whereas I got a bit of speed up and sailed up it. Also should people moving to UK take at least theory test as in a lot of countries there is now such thing as only overtaking on the right and can overtake in any lane, use to scare the sh*t out of me when was at brothers in Australia.
Inability to cope with hills probably across the age range. For permanent movers , driving requirements should be part of a “ British Life” package - but that’s probably a totally seperate discussion!
I cannot understand why this is not automatic in all vehicles now. Unless insurance companies would have to drop their prices.
