Well the lack of appointment clearly means the club like the way we're playing, because to get another style and method of playing into our 'are they professionals' players would at least take the International break to sort of get started.
Best of luck to whichever poor bastard gets lumbered with the "fantastic opportunity" of managing us.
Would love to know who SR have interviewed, with all the bits coming out that there was no stand out candidate, hence the sticking with Tonda at the moment. Also as expected players being rolled out in support of Tonda. If we lose on Saturday and then go 1 down on Tuesday at home to Leicester, I can see the discontent towards SR coming back out in full force.
Oh its all the usual PR fluff coming out the woodwork isn't it. Tondas their man, it's ****ing obvious.
17 days. 17 whole days and an international break to sort their **** out. Absolute amateur behaviour from top to bottom. If they're going to consistently chin off a season in November, they need to start offering half season tickets.
I am not quite so negative. I can see us getting a draw at Charlton and beating Leicester. Not convinced we can get a play off place but expect us to be out of site of Portsmouth within 2 weeks.
I’m pretty disappointed that we haven’t appointed an experienced manager in the 17 days since the sacking of WS, which also included a 2 week international break. They had the upsurge with the signing of Romeu and 2 wins against 2 of the worse teams in the division, and if they could have made an ambitious appointment as manager in that time, the fan base would have come back together. But No. SR are again trying to be clever for what ever reason by sticking with the U21 manager, again with no 1st team managerial experience. If SR think the fans will be forgiving for them making a decision which with a couple of losses under Tonda will again look like they’ve given up on the season for 2 years in a row, the noise at the Preston game will feel like a library in comparison. I’m firmly behind Lincoln now, and I’m fed up with these clowns taking gamble after gamble and making inadequate decision after decision. And again, we have had zero contact from the hierarchy which I find quite insulting towards the long suffering fans under their stewardship of this once great club.
TBF there doesn't seem to be any standout candidate either available or willing to join the club so I have no issue continuing with Tonda for now. The only candidate with decent experience that was strongly linked was GON and the fans made their opinions quite clear on that one.
I struggle to believe that, of the 150 who supposedly applied, there wasn't a good or standout candidate amongst that.
I struggle to believe that there was 150 applicants (that information came from MLT, who has been known to have unusual views) - or at least 150 that have ever even managed a football club before. If there were 150 applicants, there's probably 15 of those that are worth calling "football managers". And from 15 or so, I don't struggle to believe that the right candidate wasn't jumping out.
I completely forgot about this. Imo they are going to give Eckhart a couple more games as interim and if those go swimmingly he will be appointed.
We shouldn't be in a position to be accepting any applications. I thought the process in football these days is to be 12 months ahead. The famed 'black box', a system that all clubs now use. Know and track the players you want to recruit, know the players you will likely be losing, know the managers you want to target if the current one is no good or gets poached. They must have been tracking managers monthly as a backup. If they haven't, we need backup owners
I would love Lincoln to be the next manager just because I would love to see him do a Lincoln out thread a couple of weeks later.
I am also very positive that Lincoln would be more than happy to do this because he would never have to work again.
This is of course both an absolute truth and a truly damning indictment of where the club now finds itself. Has that work in the background simply thrown up a list of Gaurdiola, Klopp and Enrique and left our owners scratching their heads as to why their calls won't be taken? Has it thrown up a list of clowns so desperately poor that Spors has vetoed everyone? Or do we simply not know what the **** we are doing? I'll have a C please Bob.
It is a shambles to just be bobbing along for a month or two hoping that a 32 year old coach who has never managed before will be able to pull a few results off so that they can justify giving him the job full time as that is so clearly what they want to do. It's like they panic sacked a manager again with no idea of what comes next again. As if the writing wasn't on the wall with Still for probably a month before they sacked him. Shambles, inept, rudderless management and decision making by SR? Surely not... I highly doubt that there are no good candidates out there that would take the job. There are only so many managerial opportunities out there and we are one of the bigger ones in terms of size of club, where we are and our potential in the league system and in terms of what a manager would get paid.
It's never going to be simple like that though. Our plan B manager choice, for example, just accepted the job at Rangers.
