"Streetwise, physical, disciplined…never say die. Just a few of the words to describe new-look Sunderland. They are absolutely horrible to play against and have mastered the ugly side of the game perfectly. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again — not many teams will come to The Stadium of Light this season and win. And nobody has yet… Dan Ballard a colossus tonight."
f**k off Keef.

Congratulations to all you Sunderland supporters who have been supporting your team through some rough years but wow, you are taking the Premier League by surprise. Fantastic to see you doing so well, enjoy your night

Thankyou so much. It's been a long while since we've heard such words and it's appreciated that you take a moment to offer them. I will take up your suggestion to enjoy the night -- beers nicely lined up ! Cheers mate

Fair play guys. Definitely the best side we've played this season. Would have been a travesty if we'd won that truth be told. You deserved a result from that pulsating contest.

Just FYI - Guardiola came to The Emirates earlier in the season and ended up playing a deep block and a 5-5-0 formation in the second half. And yes, we didn't win and, yes, I know it was at our ground, but it speaks volumes that you showed more intent and purpose than City did.

Gabriel and Saliba have been two of the best CBs in Europe, yet Ballard absolutely dominated them from set-plays and crosses. I never knew he was that much of an aerial threat. And that block right at the death to stop Merino getting a last-gasp winner - outstanding defending.

Also thought Brobbey caused Gabriel a lot of issues too when he came on and eventually the pressure told when you got the equaliser (although still annoyed that Raya came out when he didn't need to).

I am a bit gutted to have not won (even if we wouldn't have deserved it) because this was our 3rd away game on the bounce and we were missing 80% of our attack, so was hoping we could just get through this in one piece and regroup after the international break. But I think this was just one game too far against a top class side.

Hoping the result won't cost us in our title ambitions, but it's a long season and lots of games left to play.

I think there's no reason at all why you can't fight for a European spot this season. Would be nice to see you get one.

All the best for the rest of your campaign (besides the reverse fixture).

<ok>

All the best. If we can’t be premier league champions i hope yous are.

What a time to be a lads fan.
The club certainly put on a show both on and off the pitch.
The Poppy display and the whole ceremony was faultless, we're showing the whole football world that we are the real deal....being proud doesn't come close, these are moments we as fans will never forget....HTL.
PS....I don't care what Arteta has to say....he's nothing to do with what's happening in Sunderland.

Looks like the ****ing hulk there, Brobbey. No need for an AI edited picture! Guts, togetherness and some excellent performances. Every week we keep making a mark this season. Class

How strong is he in his hold up play. Couple of times players just bounced off him and strong to hold Gabriel off for the goal. Looks better with every cameo
