They should have realised what he was capable of, not loaned him out, and played him. At the time we had nothing in his position. That was close to a unnearthing, but the coaches and manager didn't realise unfortunately.
In the same way Brentford didn't unearth Thiago, they bought him for £30m when he was 21 and a sought after player, not a lot younger than Isak was when we bought him.
That last bit is just an.opion, but you state it like a fact. Younger players are often put out on loan in their first season or two, to gain experience. We'll never know whether Howe would have used him, because stupid financial regs dictated that we needed to find some quick money. That doesn't necessarily mean they didn't want him, or didn't see his potential. In one post you'll say Howe has too much control over who we sign and in another you'll say he doesn't play those we do sign. It can't be both. But I guess it just depends on which version best suits your seemingly anti-Howe narrative at any given time. And I'm not suggesting for one minute that Howe doesn't have flaws, but I do find at times I have to defend these type of posts that always swing towards the negative side of it always being his fault.
OR didn't get the chance to. If he was bought with a view to initially being loaned out to get experience, before being used in the team. As I said, we'll never know for sure. So we can't use speculation as fact. The only fact in this is that FFP is a load of bollocks.
That was optional in the first place... I stand by the reality that Newcastle have unearthed nothing, so far, and Minteh was close to being a first since the takeover. Signing players for big money that have already achieved isn't unearthing.
Yeah I totally agree with that part. We've not found any 'gems' to go straight into the first team, like Brighton, Bournemouth and others have managed. Yrles, we've signed some crackers, but they have all cost at least £30m+. It looks like we've already been really upping the gane on signing youth players and this week have added to the youth scouting team. But it will still take time for lads to come through
That's all I've been saying mate.... I'll get called a wum, but I think we're in some serious trouble this season in the PL.... I don't think we're going to get relegated, but we're one of 6 or 7 that could.
What I was picking you up on were the 3 separate posts all giving sly digs at Howe regarding selling Minteh. But the point about the club scouting ability I do totally agree with with and have mentioned months ago. We need to start finding young players who can compete with the first team. But equally if we do find some and then sell, like with Minteh, that's still good long term business. It's what Chelsea have thrived on for years.
Really? I can't see any aimed at anyone individually. What I said was that they loaned Minteh out and didn't use him.. Either they didn't realise what he was capable of or they didn't think he was ready, which is simply what happened.
Well, I was referring to these... Part speculation re whether Howe wanted him. But yeah, I do agree with the sentiment of improving the scouting system.
Exactly Howe was never mentioned specifically by me only you and I even went as far as mentioning coaches and the manager. Ultimately I've said nothing sly or unreasonable at all mate...it's just what happened and one got away regardless of blame or reason. The scouts found Minteh, which is what's making me question people, nothing more than that. Unfortunately the coaches and manager/someone at the club didn't opt to give him a chance here, then he was sold for psr reasons. The thing is you actually agree with me, but think I'm Howe out, but I'm definitely not as I've labelled it madness over the past few weeks.
Chucking my two pence in. We have wasted £55 million on Elanga when we could have gone abroad and signed someone far better. As for the other players - clear mentality issue. Combination of lack of motivation and shocking tactics away from home. We were good when we ****housed games. We stopped doing it. We also sit back and that is a clear instruction. It doesn't work. Villa and USG aside we have been abysmal away from home. We don't turn up tomorrow then there will genuine questions asked.
Ah OK, sorry mate. Complete understanding on my part. When you said "but the coaches and manager didn't realise unfortunately." I stupidly thought you meant Eddie Howe, the team manager, not one of the exec staff or wider management team And when you said "and somebody else didn't want to use him." I again stupidly assumed you meant Howe, seeing as he picks the team and would therefore be the one to decide whether to "use him". And when you repeatedly said things like "As for Minteh yeah someone found a player and someone didn't even realise it." I misread and took that as "sly digs" based on speculation. You see, I didn't realise it was a fact that someone at the club genuinely didn't realise Minteh was a player. So, I do apologise. I'm glad we have cleared that all up and that you confirm you don't think Eddie had anything to do with Minteh not getting a chance to play for NUFC. Now we can hug it out (man like) and have a beer.
