The Gooners draw AC Milan in the last 16 of the CL

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Hoddle is a god, Dec 16, 2011.

  1. Oops!

That looks like the end of their CL campaign for a couple of seasons, at least.

Chelsea draw Napoli, which isn't much better, bearing in mind the former's inconsistent form, of late. Still not as tough a call as the Gooners', though.

Well, as there were so many Gooners lining up to tell us how crap AC were - not the team they used to be, etc after we knocked them out of last seasons CL, Let's see how the Gooners do against this "crap" team

Arsenal will beat Milan, in my opinion.
They have the advantage of playing at home in the second leg and I think that the Italian will struggle with the Goons' pace.

Still, it does mean that Ibrahimovic will sort of play for Spurs, in a roundabout way!

  4. I'm not sure that the Gooners will beat AC Milan. On their day, they can beat any side, as they have proven over the years, but they look a completely different prospect these days. They will give AC Milan a lot of space, and the Italians know very well how to exploit space. I'm not suggesting that AC Milan will have an easy win, far from it, in fact. It's more that Arsenal will have to put out their best XI, and they will have to play at the top of their game for the full 180 minutes.

Told you all! My sources are brilliant! <laugh>

There's a lot of pressure on the Gooners now, especially as NSIS quite rightly mentioned in regards to how they were claiming Milan were crap and not the force they once were, true or not, it'll be a little embarrassing if they get knocked out by them.

In all honesty I do think Arsenal will beat them over the two legs but nothing is certain in this funny old game :)

Interestingly, it appears that AC Milan are now 'rejuvenated', according to the Arsenal fans on not606! <laugh>
Apparently replacing Pirlo with Aquilani has improved them no end!

AC MILAN DIRECTOR UMBERTO GANDINI: "Tie of the round. For the quality and the appeal of the two clubs it is a fantastic tie. Last time we lost 2-0 to Arsenal at the San Siro and we were knocked out by Tottenham last year. We are determined to go through. (Last year we had lots of injuries) but right now we are in a better status than Arsenal. But lots can change in two months. They have a great player in Robin van Persie and Arsene Wenger is a great coach."
    Think he might agree!!!!!!

Worst draw we could have got. But I think we can defend in numbers and break with pace. Milan's record against English teams is poor in recent times. Hopefully we play at a very fast tempo when we get them back in London. Will never forgot the image of the Milan players gasping for air at the hour mark when we last played them at home. Problem is a game of this size will probably affect the league form to a certain extent.

The draw will at least give us one thing - another chance to see Tiziano Crudeli in his element :D

I doubt any Spurs fan will ever forget this...

I will keep quiet about this and if arsenal get knocked out i shall happilly remind them of the poor AC Milan team that we beat last year.....but im sure they will tell us that they have vastly improved since then..and im glad all the english teams have difficult ties...i dont support any english team and wish them all death....my only concern is spurs.....i dont care if by english teams prospering then spurs can also prosper by there being more teams in europe etc etc....hope they all get smashed

    Serious question, sort of:
How badly do the english teams have to perform before we get a champs league place taken away? Or do we have to perform poorly over a number of seasons?
If the manchester clubs don't play their first teams then its not beyond the realms of possibility that we could have no-one left in europe after the next round of games.

Spurf....what you say is correct however i bet we are still in the top 3 or 4 performers in europe if based on a points system....so even if we are rubbish as a country in europe..we are still better than most...i mean at a push id say spanish.italian and maybe german teams are better....the likes of portugese clubs have done well in say the europa but not the CL and i can bet that the points gained for getting through to the last 16 of the CL surmount to more or equal to the points you would get if say you reached the semi finals of the europa...im just presuming thats why we are still getting 4 CL spots.

I am? Said yesterday that Milan was the worst draw we could have got. They pushed Barca closer then many would have expected this year. They have improved. Also Spurs did well to beat them last year.
