I still think Max needs one crazy weekend where he gets to make a big chunk of points over the other two to even get to the last race with any chance, doesn’t look like we’re getting the weather to aid that though. It absolutely threw it down in São Paulo last weekend, looks like showers only this weekend, and more likely to be wet Saturday than Sunday. For the McLaren two it doesn’t really matter who wins as long as they’re close, but Oscar has to fight with Norris I feel otherwise it starts to become too late to reverse the momentum.
What I would really like from one of the last four races , is just for something to happen in the race so we have an utterly crazy race . I suppose crazy on off rain on Sunday is the best bet , but not so heavy they start under the safety car . And a podium of ( for example ) Lewis Albion Bearman . I can dream . Oh and for F1 to announce a second tyre manufacturer for next year . A good old tyre war is what we need / deserve
There are still 120 points up for grabs before the season close. With 4 races and two sprints it is not a given who will win this championship. Last year, I think Norris had pole but I think rain messed with the result, with the Alpines ending up on the podium. If Norris is on form he should beat Oscar, Verstappen is in form though. As fans we can't complain about this season ending being predictable, it isn't...yet! I hope there are no DNFs and the racing is fair. We potentially have one of the best season endings in a long time.....there you go, I have just jinxed it...hope not.
Outside of the championship element, I wouldn’t mind a random result. Kimi winning Vegas is something I think is unlikely, but not totally unrealistic? Sainz winning in a Williams is the dream, but I can’t see a realistic route to it this year. I think there’s a fear out there that the 2026 rules will introduce a chunk of randomness anyhow, maybe just hold off on your tyre war and we’ll reassess for 2027.
Norris has been on form for a few races, hope he keeps this up but still a long way to go. I can't help thinking Carlos must be kicking himself, jumping ship for Ferrari. Disappointed for him but it was his decision.
Agree, Norris is finding that little bit of extra pace, just like Piastri did through much of the mid year period. Good result for Antonelli too, he’s got nothing to lose and needs to use that against Norris tomorrow, it’s a great chance to win something.
Hamilton escaped any real punishment for the yellow flag infringement, getting a reprimand rather than a grid drop. The mitigation was that the yellow light only came on fractionally before he passed it, although recently the stewards have been saying that seeing the green light at the next panel should be used to infer you’re in a yellow zone, plus there being an obvious car perpendicular to the track in this instance. Apparently there was a slight hesitation in throttle application, but he did set a green mini sector through there. On balance the stewards decided that all added up to no sporting penalty. Personally I’d have liked to see a penalty applied, I think I always lean harsh on Yellow and Red Flag infringements, but we saw in Mexico how important it was that Lawson respected them properly and I think their importance to safety should result in leaning towards zero tolerance, so in this case the green mini sector would have tipped me the other way. On a related note I’m a little surprised Leclerc didn’t get investigated for deliberately causing the yellow. I think it was remarked upon in commentary and I thought like he booted the throttle having made the mistake. Definitely more Rosberg 2014, than Schumacher 2006 from a premeditation perspective, but I think more Schumacheresque in the sense of there being little to suggest it was a genuine mistake. Bit of a result for Ferrari overall I guess on a day where not much else went right although perhaps they’ve gone towards a wet setup which might pay them back tomorrow?
I love the British sense of humour . This from HYS on the BBC ref Lando’s pole for the sprint race . Dont forget Lando only got Pole because McClaren took 3 wheels off Piastris car and put spaghetti down his pants. *according to Australian sources
Watching the replays it looks like Lando took as much kerb as Oscar did. I wonder if they have different diff settings or torque maps?
Antonelli said Lando kicked up a lot of water, so possibly the kerb was dry and grippy, and then it wasn't. Always risky to ride kerbs in the wet.
It was a bit of a weird crash, he seemed to lose traction when he ducked out from behind Alex. The angle he hit didn't half do some damage, looks like the steering column's crash structure did it's job and broke up. I too would be very surprised if they can get him out for quali.
