'SIR' David Beckham! Why exactly? Now? He got all the kudos and honours for a couple of decades, but he hasn't contributed a single thing to the UK in years - and isn't that the principal reason for a Knighthood?
I was thinking the same. It's a sad reflection of the fact that very few people have contributed significantly to this country for a very long time. Whatever anyone does, they only do for enormous profit. It might be because I'm a Londoner and the city is now largely a crime-ridden cesspit, but this is a pretty bleak country to live in right now.
1 unlucky one (probs the youngest) having to do the dirty and the other 39 mopping up the filthy pigs sweat
RIP Pauline Collins Another great actor passes...but at 85, a decent age! Married to John Alderton for over 50 years! BBC News - Pauline Collins, star of Shirley Valentine, dies aged 85 https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c62e0n957y9o
I remember her and her hubby in Upstairs Downstairs and No Honestly, but Shirley Valentine was a fabulous film and performance. I had no idea that she was an original Liver Bird, before my mother's doppelganger, Nerys Hughes. A real talent. RIP.
The bank tried to contact him, but he was too late responding.... (n.b. if true then I'm really sorry for him)
If this lad carries on at this rate we have a real talent on our hands https://x.com/FIFAWorldCup/status/1986828790736011530?t=U8nQv8WdvDFXZFSjTYyrzQ&s=19
Some talent to be sure (The finish was fortuitous though) If the Gooners are playing a 15 yr old in a really strong team, then you have to wonder whether we should be introducing this lad more regularly? With Vuskovic also tearing it up at 18 in the Bundesliga, you have to wonder whether he should be brought back in the NY?
