It wouldn't be a manager odds list without Kjetil Knutsen, and there in he rides, stealing in at a punchy 12/1.

If they appoint him full time that's the last straw for me. I'm done until SR **** off.

A lot of people will though, he'll get absolutely no leeway or settling in period from a large portion of the fans and won't survive a bad run.

I really don't want to go to Fratton with a skate in charge but apart from anything else he's another obsessed with possession manager.

He is always going to be a candidate if he is the interim.

If he can get a tune out of the current squad then by all means keep him on, last night was bad performance wise and I don’t think we’ll learn anything against Wednesday win lose or draw tbh, so if he is offered the job it will be what those behind the scenes see him doing with the squad.

I did notice that we went back to our old style goal kicks last night, the routine etc was exactly the same as under Martin so I doubt that was Tondas idea to do that.

I've already decided that it's extremely likely the caretaker will get it tbh.

Would be madness for me. And would be a weird thing to do, having just said they're interviewing candidates currently etc. Maybe in a few years time, but not at 32 etc.

Start with a win and I think everyone will quickly move on from the fact he played for Pompey twenty years ago. We have an ex-Pompey goalkeeper, and no one seems to mind that.

O'Neil did an incredible job at Bournemouth, and he ticks a lot of boxes. He seems far more adaptable than other managers we've had who were wedded to just one way of playing. If he's the best option we can realistically get, I wouldn't go for the next-best option, purely because of O'Neil's past. It's just childish.

I couldn't give two hoots about his background (though clearly the silly element of our fanbase will), but he still sits firmly in the 'okay' bracket for me. Still, okay may be all we can get right now.

I think so as well. The fact Spors brought him with him, then promoted him to caretaker ahead of the likes of Trollope and Lallana. Even keeping Trollope around when Still left indicates Tonda keeping the job otherwise a new manager would want to bring in his own assistant so why bother keeping him?

Considering how much we’ve had to shell out on compensation packages in the past 12 months it wouldn’t surprise me if he became permanent with a £0 compensation package if he’s sacked

I'm not saying I massively disagree with your general sentiment. I do disagree that starting with a win will make everyone forget though, I think as soon as we hit a bad patch people will turn massively and he'd get much less leeway than others would.

For me I really don't like the idea of going to Fratton with someone in charge who has a lot of affinity for that lot. Gives me massive 2005 vibes.

Caretaker managers (including given the job FT stats)
Gray, Wigley, Dodd & Gorman, Wilkins, Selles, Rusk combined win % =12.5

Please note SR, it NEVER works.

Thing is the fact many people will care will directly impact his ability to be successful.

Loads of people wont have him right from the off, it'll be like Jones but worse. He definitely won't survive a defeat at Fratton regardless of how he's otherwise doing.

A divisive appointment like that really isn't what's needed right now imo.

It not that he’s taking the game of course, but come on, if this choice is about saving money it just further underlines SRs incompetence surely. Nothing against the guy.
