Not quite true. Roerslev has publicly spoken about players needing to look each other in the eye about their performances. So he doesn't fit into that culture. I think we've signed other players who have ability but aren't necessarily leaders. The hope has to be that the likes of Scienza and Roerslev, alongside Romeu and a new manager, can start to push the others. And if that means pushing some people out of the door then so be it. EDIT: I suspect Shea Charles might fit into that 'leadership' group too.
I do agree with this but with the lifespan of managers this is so difficult. If they isolate the trouble makers and don't get instant results, the likelihood is they won't even last long enough to sell and replace them. What makes this worse is the players know it. They know that if they get frozen out by a new manager then they don't really need to knuckle down and fight to win back their place.
And then they leak to the press that they’d like their bezzie back, because the others are so mean and beastly to them…
Oh I agree. As you say the risk is that half the players expect the manager to get sacked before the end of the season and ignore him. I posted somewhere earlier today that the revolving door on the manager's office has undermined whoever is in charge and that's one reason I wouldn't have minded if we'd kept Juric - I think he identified the problem players quite early on and backing him against the dressing room might have been a good thing in the long run. The club have to get the appointment of our next manager right and he needs to be a bigger character than Will Still, who I feel a bit sorry for. When and if the new manager says the same things our other managers have said, he needs to be backed.
I was thinking what was Paul Trollopes role in this. He was supposed to be there to help Still out with his experience. Perhaps Still overuled him but If that was the case why wasn't he given the temp manager role?
I can only think that SR suspect whoever comes in now will want their own staff, so they can move Tonda back into the U21 role, having given him a bit of experience (might be seen as one for the future). Unless of course they want Tonda to take over, in which case I just hope he's a Poch regen or we're in a lot of trouble.
