Give me an old hand who can cut out the mistakes in the defence, drills the team on stealing goals from corners and free kicks and can play long to a target man. It won't be pretty and it sure as hell won't get us promoted, but right at the moment it'd give us some stability and that kind of meat-and-potatoes play would get us to 14th in the table and above Pompey at the end of the season. F**k me, beginning of November and we're in a relegation battle when the bookies had us finishing 2nd at the start of the season. That's p*ss poor and depressing as hell. Sports Republic really don't have a bloody clue, do they?
Well, if Russ 'I love you all' Martin does come back there are some positives. I genuinely and literally will have no interest in the rest of the season, I won't look out for results or read articles or come on here. He is the very antithesis of entertaining, fun football, but he'll have his favorite players who will get a game every week regardless. I won't care because you will never see a post from me again this season - genuinely. I'm sure some of you will be ecstatic, which is fair enough to be honest.
I'm not sure if you misunderstood me, or I you? I just mean if Martin comes back you'll never see anything from me again, and I'm sure some posters and members will be very happy about that. I do not like Martin's style of football - or that style from any manager. So I will literally not bother with this season. I watch very little on the TV as it is.
Of course the players referred to would welcome him back, they basically haven’t changed playing his way anyway. The difference would be attendance levels will reach such a level we’ll be able to play on the local recreation ground and the local sides will see a boost in their attendances! No! No! No!!!
I know Steve cooper is at brondby, but maybe we could throw some of dragans cash at them? Him and Mark Robins are my 2 top choices at this level. Think they’re both cracking managers. Such a shame we didn’t go for them at any point when they were available
Either of them would be cracking appointments. As opposed to an appointment that will expose my crack.
From the list of names today, and whittling down to those who would feel realistic options, I would say Michael Carrick is my favourite of the lot
I'd be open to him but that's based purely on the fact that he's got some pedigree as a player, has at the least been exposed to the working methods of some of the recent great managers and seems to be able to string a few words together coherently on the tv....
