Confirmed: Will Still sacked

There'll be plenty out there who'll see this as good excuse to lay off SR now "cos they're learning from, and rectifying their mistakes" or some such ****e

I was literally about to post something to this effect on the SR fred - guarantee this ends a lot of discontent in the stands.

I ain't letting the ****s off that easily. Nor the ****house players.

 

Southampton confirm Will Still has been sacked. Ruben Martinez, Clement Lemaitre and Carl Martin have also left their positions. Men's Under-21s head coach Tonda Eckert will take interim charge.

Technical Director Johannes Spors: "Will is a great person who gave everything to try and improve performances and results. Ultimately that process has taken longer than any of us would have liked. By making a change now we believe it gives us the best chance of turning things around this season and climbing back up the league table."

 

Statement doesn't say anything about who's taking temporary charge. Maybe they do have someone lined up.

Real shame. Still takes the fall for the board, and players, failings. He's a part of the problem for sure, but far from the biggest.

I'm not sure why we've decided against Trollope and Lallana to oversee things until a replacement is appointed. Unless maybe Spors sees Eckert as a possible permanent option? (Which I wouldn't put past SR.)

 

He did manage to draw with Real Madrid this week.

 

I get that strikers are expensive, but surely SR have paid out so much terminating contracts of Ralph, Jones, Martin, Juric and Still?

I wonder what the sum total is, anyway to find out?

Fits with what I've just suggested. Because otherwise it's odd to choose him as the caretaker. Basically giving him a two game trial.
