What will be the outcome of the much awaited South Coast Derby on Sunday; the last fixture before the season of peace on earth and goodwill to all men? please log in to view this image
Hi guys, what do you expect your line up will be on Sunday; what shape/formation has Appleton employed so far. I am ambivalent at the moment, cannot decide if this away game has come at the right or wrong time for Southampton.
Would have preferred this game earlier in the season because we were so bouyant and Pompey were struggling. However, we have shown we aren't a flash in the pan. Nearly half a season gone and still top. We are playing well, apart from this tendency to lose points away, so I'm still going for a Saints win. We don't lose if we score first, so there's the key.
He has played 4-4-1-1 ,but most fans want to see him play a 4-4-2 and go for your throats from the outset, like we did in Demolition Derby 1.
Well I think the key may be how high Pompey press up the pitch. Saints struggle to play through teams away from home and have been caught out by the long ball a few times in recent weeks away from home, therefore playing deep may help us. If the game is open I think we will win, but both teams have the quality to win it, although I think we have more match winners.
Liam Lawrence is back for us, and if he finds his form, could be the key in our midfield. With Erik The Viking on the bench (presumably) he could be the matchwinner in my opinion, if and when he comes on as a sub. May the best team win (as long as they are wearing blue shirts, of course !)
Unusually I agree. Midfield will be key if Hammond can subdue Lawrence then I think we'll win. Halsey might stuggle to keep his cards in his pocket! Might be worth a bet on bookings.
Lawrence has been in **** form so hopefully if he plays it stays the same. As for the score hmm can't see Saints winning tbh, hope I'm wrong tho. I think it will be 2-1 to poopey, our away form is shiiiiitee.
Tbf, our away form is adequate for a lot of teams, just shiite for a team like us trying to stay at the top.
It's Varney who is the doubt. LL has been training all week and should be up for selection.......... along with Herman
