with another transfer window looming, do you think that there will be many incomings and outgoings after the recent summer where we bought alot of players, sold some players and loaned some players. under bruce i started to beleive that he was buying because he can and not where needed (lb st ), now with MON can we expect a more structured window, where we buy what we need. and if so who is avaliable and would head north to "further their career" , that would actually improve us as a sqaud and help us push for european football next year. or could we still acheive that without adding to the current squad.
It's where I go on my holidays. Oh no, sorry Comm, it's where all the corrupt bastards are, Brussels as in sprouts mate.
yew-rup?? nah. staying-up?? yes please. we have a squad with some decent players in it, but honestly, its not balanced at all, and needs a lot of work. the most obvious thing we need is a consistent goalscorer up front, and these are like gold-dust - if o'neill can find us one of these in january, then he really is one of the best. if he can't, then this year is going to be a struggle.
Don't want Europe anyway they are all bankrupt or corrupt take your pick. With our current squad we are struggling to get away from the relegation zone never mind get into Europe. Everton have done it recently and Liverpool last season who were 4th bottom I think when Dalgliesh took over but, can't see us doing it just yet.
Tbh I wouldn't want Europa league at all for the next couple of seasons. I don't think we are capable of it via the league but with O'Niell the F.A cup is possible, look at Stoke. You need two teams really to cope with Thursday games the. playing on a Saturday and our squad wouldn't cope. With regards to signings in Jan i hope we are prepared to pay whatever it takes on a striker that Mon wants to bring to the club. Id save all re modelling for the summer. Lb.cb.lw.additional striker (Gyan situation revolved)
The big problem we have is that we have good players but not outstanding players. To get better than what we have got will be difficult but that's what we need to do to get to the next level. Last year we had Bent, Welbeck and Gyan. All 3 are international players good enough to play in Europe. We currently have Sess who is of that quality and Larson who has really improved our side and could get to that quality. If we had had a motivated Gyan we might have been able to match last season and finish 10th. With the above in mind we must try and sign quality, even if its only 1 player I would rather have real quality than just more numbers. The players we have are good and will be better under MON but to really improve we need better than what we currently have. Its easy to say the above but I don't know where this quality will come from? the only person that has been mentioned who seems to fit the bill is this Cisse bloke but I don't know much about him.
with MON record of doing well in cups, lets hope we try our best to win the fa cup and haway europe here we come
We cant go to europe anyway. We are banned. Last time we were there we ripped the sails and threw all the cannon overboard.
In fact, now you mention banning, it's worth noting that Sunderland may be breaking Financial Fair Play rules at the moment and is therefore unable to play in Europe. Not sure when those rules come into force though.
europe good god we need two teams to perform in europe one to challenge in the premier ship and the other to perform in europe WE HAVE NOT GOT ONE TEAM YET
Talk of Europe is just silly, a whipping off Spurs may slow that talk up lol, how are we breaking the rules?
Here are the key points about FFP from a website: Divide that £39.5mill loss over the 3 years up until 2014, and that means a club can't record a loss of more than £13mill a year on average. At the moment, I don't think Sunderland are staying within those figures, especially without the investment of Short. This is a good example. It's no problem for EPL clubs who aren't aspiring for Europe, but for those who are, breaking FFP rules can see your club excluded from UEFA competitions - including the Europa League. That's why people like Quinn are spending a lot of time in overseas commercial developments, because your club is trying to find new forms of revenue to break even and stay within the rules. It's also why Newcastle have been so tight when it comes to spending, because we're trying to become self-sustainable and avoid spending more than the club earns.
With the new ffp am I right in thinking that clubs with large support will benefit greatly and clubs like Wigan with wither away? I always check Bradfords crowd, great for league two and better than alot of Championship clubs and prem teams some weeks. be good to have the sheffields/Leeds etc back and get rid of the likes of wigan, blackburn, Fulhan who take about 7 fans to away games.
It only affects clubs wanting to play in Europe. A club like Wigan could pump millions of external funds into the club to buy players and shoot up the table, but when it came to Europa or Champions League time they wouldn't be allowed in the tournament.
I think these rules could backfire. They will soon change them again when the Champions League is shawn of some of the giant clubs in Europe if they don't meet the criteria and the clubs lower down give even less of a **** about the Europa League. You don't make any cash in the Europa League unless you actually win it ( even then its not much) so clubs may just **** Europe off and concentrate on their domestic campaigns.
