Oh well, it's been coming. Keeper had no chance.

We were too slow there to close him down, our defense has been flawless up to this point, disappointing.......:emoticon-0130-devil

Players are knackered with all the pressing we’ve had to do

Goodnight Vienna. Some positives to take from the game, so not all bad.

Not sure why we're tapping it about at the back with a few minutes left though. I'd rather they hoof it up field and hope for the best.

Game over, couldn't quite keep up the pace, fitness levels need improving, but a good game up to 70 minutes, but the gaffer needs to tell them it's a 90 minute game....<laugh>

Thought we accomplished ourselves well. We were good for our lead had a go at them. Had to put up with huge amount of city pressure. If we can take that performance into the league then we should start to rise up the table.

I think the decision to try and hold on for penalties was our downfall. Instead of trying to win the game we just allowed Man City to play attack v defence. You just knew that we wouldn't be able to defend that deep for 45 mins without conceding.

    Just getting back home.

Excellent first 25 mins - if only Widell had scored …..

I thought that playing the 3 centre backs with Key and Tymon worked pretty well, especially in the first half. Am I alone in thinking that Casey is a cut above Cabango? Samuel’s-Smith also had a decent game.

I wouldn’t mind seeing that line up against Charlton albeit with Vipotnik starting instead of Idah, but of course Cabango will start.

    Some other player observations:

Key not good enough / too slow against the better teams.

Galbraith held his own against PL players until late on when he tired.

Franco was Franco and of course a lovely goal.

Inoussa looked tidy, whilst Benson continues to disappoint.

In fairness, I think that City were too dominant and just forced us back and eventually overpowered us, rather than it was a conscious decision to try and play for penalties <cheers>

Great start and had the crowd behind them....perhaps the second goal would have helped keep the volume up but once Man Citys second or third string team got the get up and go it got harder for us to get any control of the possession...as alluded to earlier...were we really playing for penalties from 25 minutes from the end with the subs?
Can we keep playing like that in the league now? Up to you AS

What did you think of the tweak to the system with 3 centre backs?

The 2 youngsters especially Casey have not really put a foot wrong and have used their Premier League experiences to good effect for us. Give them a go with Burgess as captain saturday and Ben on the bench? We have got nothing to lose playing a new system that could baffle Charlton. and give us the advantage. It would be nice to win against a team above us in the league lol
