"Still suggested he was already planning to withdraw Charles before full-time due to fitness concerns, but could now be without the 21 year old" https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/25572145.southampton-fc-fearing-worst-shea-charles-injury/ Even more staggering we had no backup. I genuinely cannot believe we let that happen
That pass should never have reached Alex. Other players should have dealt with it .It wasn’t even a shot.
You tell me as it seems like he’s never managed a game in his life based on the evidence of this season. Ridiculous appointment. Not even with hindsight, most people thought it when it happened. Absolute fraud.
"Better choice than Röhl for me....pretty excited about this guy....yep, I like him already" Let's not reinvent your history here, Os.
I was adamant we needed experience actually and not a gamble. I preferred this guy to Rohl, but preferably neither of them. I’ve been extremely consistent about that. Of course, no one could have predicted just how **** he actually is. That’s why we pay a recruitment team.
The "no one could have predicted" part is the pertinent point (and I'd include the recruitment team and all of us in that). We took a gamble here (much like we did with Poch, or how Brentford did with Andrews) and on reflection we really shouldn't have gambled, particularly when the SR history of gambles shows that they couldn't find water falling off a boat. I get why they did it, but I'd really rather they stopped doing so, particularly at this stage. Now is not the time for gambling.
There's nothing wrong with taking a gamble, per se, but to continually do it and when you have a history of getting it terribly wrong, means that in a situation like we found ourselves in it was the wrong move (and would be again if we tried it). Mind you, law of averages surely suggests that we might find a competent manager at some point soon. Surely?!
You're right, we're not a big enough/wealthy enough club to not gamble. So gamble with one aspect of an upcoming season. Gamble with a manager, gamble with a striker from a lower league in a different country, gamble with a new DOF, gamble with your injury prone main strikers fitness, gamble with not providing your new managers old coaches, gamble with keeping suspect keepers, gamble with your fans patience. Only complete rank amateurs, whose arrogance is off the charts would do all of the above off the back of the clubs worst ever season. Lucky ****ing us. SR out
****, I agree with you, Lincs!! In a tactical sense I hate the idea of Southgate (not that I think he'd come here). but it's that kind of character, that has the ability to build a cohesive unit, that we need right now.
I don't think we should sack Still. Much prefer it if we got another coach in alongside to help him. Just feel we made a mistake ditching Juric so soon but what we do not need is another change in direction after 4 moths. There have been improvements. Just need to be patient.
There really haven't. We threatened improvements against Sheffield United and Swansea but have since gone back to being utterly turd
As much as I love to rant and rave on here, deep down I am awake to the fact that we're a relatively small fish, and the days of an Abromovich type take over has long since sailed and more to the point is now impossible. So what we then need is smart, sensible recruitment with a helpful dose of luck. Now lady luck thinks SFC are ****s and has long since abandoned us but these glaringly bad decisions are not only infuriating, but totally 100 percent, self inflicted. Its football self harm every ****ing season. Yes we're a small fish but seeing the likes of Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton being well run and now "bigger" than us ****ing hurts. Look at Sunderland! Yes they'll fall off but at least they've made a ****ing good fist of it, they at least gave it a go. I know I'm prone to hyperbole, but SR are a ****ing cancer to this club. They have ****ed us for years. Yes a future without them is scary because we've all seen what's happened to Wednesday and Reading, but for everyone of those teams there's also a Brentford and Brighton. If it means going down to L1 so be it, but our beloved club is dying, and instead of sorting out life support they're trying homeopathy. The ****s
I have been there when Lawrie and Chris Nicholl had reverses. We need to get behind Still . He ia learning his trade and needs our support. We were never going to get promoted thia season. Just feel thst he needs a season to get the club on a decent footing. Firing him is not the answer.
Unfortunately, (and I am mr positive normally and like to think I am not knee jerk), I think we need to make the change. The only improvement is only losing every few games, rather than every week and we still cannot put the round thing in the net more times than the now weaker than last year opposition. I genuinely do not think Still has it in him. The sheer madness of being one nil up, creating loads and then taking off our most creative player for Stephens (when we already had 3 CB on the pitch) is beyond schoolboy error. It smacks to me of incompetence.
I mentioned yesterday it was Still's fault that Charles (and Stewart) picked up their injuries. And here he is essentially admitting it. He knew Charles shouldn't play 90 minutes, and yet he was prepared to risk it. I said before Bristol City that Charles should be rested for either that or yesterday's game, and who the f*ck am I? Just a fan. How are we able to call these blatantly obvious decisions, yet these clowns in charge can't? Before anyone says, Downes/Jander weren't fit, yes I know. But that's why you rotate players when you can. Shea has played practically every minute this season plus four internationals.
I think a lot of this season’s issues are down to you not having changed your username. May I suggest Shea’s Buttery Thighs?
