Everyone is totally focused on the Pompey match, but most seem only set on beating our footballing rivals. Surely that is only the cherry on the cake...what we really need is 3 points at this stage of the season. Middling away form, a few injuries setting in, 2 dropped points at home (though don't think that was down to anything other than one of those things), and the closing in of the chasing pack means what we really need for Xmas is 3 away points followed by another 3 on Boxing Day. No, I don't think we are falling apart, but we need to stop this mini-blip and put confidence back into the team and fans.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.
Oh what fun it is to see SOUTHAMPTON WIN AWAY.

We are in desperate need of a win on the road and a win fullstop. I don't really care if it's pompey or not

I'd happily hand over the bragging rights until the St Marys return if it meant the ultimate winning of the Championship.

We will still be top on Sunday regardless and much as I'd love us to thrash them thats the most important thing. By this time in tne season the table doesnt lie. We are the best side in the Championship FACT.

We focus on winning the next game. Pompey is the next game.

Tbf, no matter where we were in the table, the focus on this match was always going to primarily be on the rivalry. If we beat them for example, exactly how many of us will simply consider it as three points closer to promotion, and nothing more? It isn't an ordinary game, even Adkins has said that.

For sure, dropping points at Fratton Park will harm our promotion chances, obviously it will. But yes, for once it's not the league that is the primary focus. That said though, I would accept losing home and away to Pompey this season, if we also got promoted.

The 3 points are the thing. But if we only win one more game away from home this season, please God let it be this one....

Win the home games, draw the away games is promotion form. BUT, we have just dropped points at home, so we need to win an away game to balance things up. Oh, look, here comes an away game. This will do to give someone a thrashing...

Pompey fan at work is taking his newborn daughter to the game. I said, 'The poor thing will be traumatized when she realises that Southampton isn't her team.'

Before you ask, he's taken a baby there before. Must be more certain of safety than we are!

    Echo these comments <ok>

I think the fans and the media hype this game up more than necessarily, but that's only expected because it's a rivalry <ok>

The players are most probably in the same frame of mind as any other game, they will know how much it means to the fans but NA would've had made it clear to see it is another game that we will chalk off at the end <ok>

Hi first time poster here, so first of all hello to the board!

I think the timing of this match with regards to how the season has gone so far has just added that extra bit of spice to a game that's was always gonna be a vindaloo in any case! We're going through a mini blip (and to be honest you can only call it that in comparrison to our blistering start) and what better place to get us back on track and firing on all cylinders than that shed down the road!! I think a win on Sunday, in what is obviously going to be an electric atmoshere, could be just what we need to fire the lads up for the Christmas period and see us going in to January on a flyer, and I for one think we'll do it!!!.....Sorry not usually so exclamation mark happy, but am just a little excited!!!!!!!!!!!

    Welcome mate!

I cannot wait till Sunday, the atmosphere is gonna be amazing and it'll be important to put in a good performance after the slip up against Blackpool! To be honest I don't exactly rate either of our GK's and always wanted to see Bart in goal alot more than he has been but if last weeks performance is anything to go by I'm more than happy for KD to stay in goal but I honestly feel that we need a new GK in the summer! Don't get me wrong, both are good GK's in their own right but I really think we could do better! Just hope KD puts in a better performance on Sunday than he did in the Cup the other year as we all know that both teams are gonna be up for this more than normal!!!
