Agreed. Perhaps this one meant to go to the Sumo Championships in London and took the wrong turn?

And yet Kane got his jersey tugged in Latvia and got a pen.

We had Mr Rueben Ricardo, more cards than Waddington's, a penalty for Brum (justified), another penalty appeal for them turned down (it was a penalty), a yellow for a Brum player that should have been red, and a technical area fracas that should have seen Brum's manager booked, he wasn't.
Abridged version, both teams Rued today's referee. :emoticon-0138-think

Your referee for Saturday is Bent Oner. Oh sorry, that should read Ben Toner, although... :emoticon-0138-think

Another one who has been around for a while but has not experienced the mighty Bluebirds although I recall his name from somewhere.

In fairness he has done a few Championship games.

However, he is from Blackburn refereeing a Bolton game. Is that good or bad?

He reffed us three times last season, WDL, and looking at the stats doesn't seem too card happy. Famous last words. :emoticon-0138-think

His last 4 home games at Bolton have seen 2 losses and 2 wins for the Wanderers.

Inconclusive then. Still dont trust someone from Lancs in charge of a Lancs club match.

There’s no Welsh referee on the circuit. Last one I recall was Keith Cooper. Clive Thomas obviously and before him Howard King.

I played in a charity game once in Cardiff and we had Clive Thomas as the referee. He booked me for an innocuous challenge.

Only Clive would book someone in a charity game. Unless you got fined for being booked and that went to the charity.

Clive would probably have booked everyone and the managers if that was the case. :emoticon-0140-rofl:

He'd have booked half the crowd as well.

Remember that World Cup incident when he blew for half time a split second before a ball from a corner was headed in:emoticon-0138-think

Did a lot of work for Clive on his home when he was living at Rest Bay, Porthcawl through the 90's / Noughties period. I think he's still around but dunno if he still lives there though. I've been out of the work loop for over 15 years now - is it that long. <doh>

Whatever his fearsome reputation on the pitch, he had the same "spikey" front when you dealt with him in business, but was really a pussycat at home - his wife always sorted him out. He was devoted to her and hopefully they're still together and still is. <ok>

He was managing director of the Kier Facilities Ltd group at the time but underneath that spikey exterior bluster he'd perfected was a concerned and thoughtful bloke - though he'd always try to give the opposite appearance to anyone he dealt with.

He had a thousand stories and not just about football. I remember him telling me about a visit he'd made to the local optician. He was sat in the chair being examined when the optician told him "don't move - just sit there quietly". He'd spotted something serious which Clive never knew about and called an ambulance to take him straight to hospital. He came out after a few days but he was very lucky he went for that optician check up.

He spent a lot of money with me so perhaps I've got a biased opinion, ninian............<laugh>

Did the optician call an ambulance as he'd found the only referee with 20/20 vision? :emoticon-0103-cool:
