We can be adversarial, and disagree strongly, without becoming too hostile I hope.
    These are highly emotive subjects.

The hour is also very late (over here anyway). Perhaps time to bid goodnight and sweet dreams. Tomorrow is a new day :emoticon-0157-sun:

Newspapers are not objective in their reporting, particularly of politically charged matters. All have agendas, be they left or right leaning.

    London has serious problems.
It also generates about half of the income of the entire UK.
That's why I think it should have a senior Cabinet department and a top Minister looking after it.
Not a tin pot Mayor and a cliquey council.

Sounds like the argumentative little one was busy last night whilst I went to bed happy after watching a really good performance and a celebratory drink. Thought others would also. Perhaps shandy’s are strong down there?

For the record, bizarre it even needs to be written, I am as appalled as everyone about the grooming gang story and doubtful of the conduct and impartiality of the review. The government needs to get hold of this situ and quick.

That said, I despise the political bias of papers such as the Express and Daily Mail.
Both bring back echoes from my childhood and little England mentalities and both along with the Sun have zero credibility.

Elfling you’ll have more credibility with me if you go back to forwarding your links from Kenya and Egypt. As you were…

    Best wishes

I'll not reply to your opening paragraph as you'll think I'm being argumentative.

Perhaps if you put the second paragraph down in the first place we'd not have had this exchange.

In this instance with the country and London totally shot to ****, it does not matter what bloody journal is being posted. You'll not be surprised to know I have a news alert from GB News on my mobile.

Watamare, just be content that Sir @Ponders Revisited has not put his tuppence worth in<laugh>

You know how I feel about what’s going on - stopped buying newspapers years ago as , like politicians, they all lie and have their own agenda :emoticon-0172-mooni:emoticon-0172-mooni

“No charges will be brought against four men arrested after images of Donald Trump and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were projected on to Windsor Castle, Thames Valley Police has said.”

    A common sense decision.
Their arrests were only half hearted posturing of course.

God help this country if we follow suit and elect a similar character as leader

In recent years we've seen a lot of this kind of tactic.
Many people were arrested just before the Coronation events (for instance). Very few were eventually charged with anything if I recall.

In some politically charged circumstances arresting people is being used as a means to take the immediate heat out of something.
A way of stifling the spark from an explosive situation, then letting things cool down a bit.

Understandable in these times, whether or not something that it is good or bad to see.

The Government's attempts to stop small boat crossings are truly beyond farcical now.

I composed a sarcastic little ditty on the subject,
But despite my grim humour being aimed at the Authorities rather than the asylum seekers, I decided that the effort was in poor taste so I deleted it.

I don't know what a more effective solution would be - without having to resort to excessive cruelty.
But what is being done at present plainly isn't working.
