Manning has got to go but the cost of getting rid of him and his team will wipe out any transfer kitty. We can't let Knapper choose the replacement so he has to go as well. Controversial suggestion - bring in Steve Bruce as Sporting Director. He knows all about good likely Head Coaches and decent young players from the lower leagues.
If I recall correctly, didn’t NCFC have to pay a release clause to Bristol City for Manning? I am convinced that the problem with the players isn’t just down to Manning. Some are not putting in a performance that they are capable of. What the issue is we will never know.

Mark Robins rumoured to be a possible Manning replacement. Why would he be interested in coming to CR when Stoke are 3rd and we are 22nd in the league? 1. challenge 2. Ex-NCFC player and well respected with fans 3. More money 4. None of the above.
I don't see barely any difference between Manning and Robins, certainly not enough to warrant the cost.
Out of managers available ie unemployed, I would personally like to give Rusty a go. Great player for us, well liked and IMO a good manager at Championship level.
Really? Did little at Swansea, failed at Southampton and was a disaster at Rangers. Bryan Gunn was a great player for us but probably the worst manager we have ever had. In my opinion we need a hard man like Lambert or Saunders to sort that lot out otherwise Div 1 here we come.
I think anyone who replaces Manning would be given till end of season contract. I find it unlikely we'd take on another long contract under Knapper.
We need another young European coach who has knowledge of other leagues and get back to youth, good football and more importantly a longer term project. If Knapper has brought in his own scouts then they absolutely need to go at end of season as well as prior to him our scouting was exceptional.
There is also a cost to be reckoned with by not sacking him. Relegation, meaning less sky income. Loss of season ticket income. Player valuation drop. And we still have him as coach.
As I said - IMO both of them have got to go and Knapper will have to be first as we need a new Sporting Director to choose a new Head Coach
Steve Bruce....seriously, you think someone stuck with a mindset of playing the game from 20 years ago is the person to have as a Sporting Director. What do you think Bruce know's about young players in lower leagues? I'd argue next to nothing, he was at Blackpool for about 10 months after being out of football for however many years. He's virtually the complete opposite of what we need.
