**** me what could have been, to think Regi was a bir of a come down when first announced after this lad knocked us back!
A few things about this 1) speaking to my saints mates who are season ticker holders, dont think Will Still will make it to end the of the season 2) some dont think he will make it to Xmas 3) have said they will pay me £1k each (5 of them have said this) if he is still there and gets them promoted (so no money for me) 4) they feel like they will do a double drop
I don't know any Southampton fans personally, but from what I've read online/heard from others who do have Saints friends the owners there are a bit strange, bordering on clueless. You don't know how much damage has been done behind the scenes previously by them and Martin that Still is reaping from. Not saying he's not got a share of blame himself, but it could be a perfect storm of him being the wrong fit and out of his depth combined with behind the scenes issues. Either way, if it doesn't improve soon he'll be a goner and his reputation will take a massive hit. On a related note, I remember reading someone say that they thought Still came across as one of the most arrogant people they'd ever met with very little to back it up. I can't remember who, but it was last year after he'd turned us down. I think it was a french sports journalist.
the ginger russell martin is what some have dubbed him. its his reluctance to change tactics, give it another couple of games and he could be gone
Too many managers are like that today. Dogmatic. The definition of madness is to keep repeating the same thing over and over and fail each time, but keep doing it expecting different results. You need to be able to adapt if things aren't working, be flexible. If he's not, he won't last long.
some fans think he has possibly the next few games to turn it around, said the second half of the game last night was possibly the worst 45 mins they have seen under him some think he has until the next international break, but their worry is who they will get in, the names out of work dont fill them with Joy,
My money is on Phil Parkinson at Wrexham. They're not winning games and have Boro, Coventry and Cardiff in their next four matches. Losing, in the cup, at home to Cardiff would be a killer blow as it'll truly knock the romance out of them. After those games they're away to Portsmouth and I can see that being Parkinson's last chance.
Parkinson is just a lower league journeyman, he's not cut out to manage above league 1, really. A friend of mine worked with a lad who was a Bolton fan and said when we appointed him that he'd probably get us up, but it would be attritional and he'd not kick us on if he did. Wrexham are probably finding that now, he had plenty of money to spend in the conference/league 2/league 1 but now in a more equal league his management short comings are getting exposed. And with all the razzamataz and Hollywood glamour they'll not want to go down with a boring whimper and lose all those new fans in America.
It was that second half I watched. In fairness Southampton had a couple of chances and hit the bar I think. The equaliser came out of nowhere, but it completely deflated them. Three times I've watched them now. They got away with murder against Wrexham first game, and they've lost the other two. Some decent players there, it should be much better.
I just noticed the bottom five teams have only won three games from a total of thirty. I don't know what the bottom three managed, by this time last season, but it can't have been much less. As long as we keep our nerve, and continue to play as we are, I think we'll be fine.
