I know we've got injury problems but that feels like a truly terrible solution if that's what he's gone for. 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 only has McLean playing out of position, in a role he's covered before.

And an interesting sub-plot in the form of Josh Sargent and Patrick Agyemang vying to catch Pochettino's eye as he mulls over the USNMT World Cup squad. Both have 5 international goals to their name, but Agyemang's 5 have all come in the current year, his break through year.

Kenny's back issue was reported before the previous game as well. He seems to be able to play.

I said last game was a must win , lose this & i doubt there are many of us that can argue Manning & perhaps his boss are capable of running the team .

Knapper & his latest coach are pretty much dead men walking .

There are two interpretations to this match:

1) An utterly dominant in possession Norwich City, unfortunately unable to find a way through resolute and brave defending, with several choice blocks

2) A woeful Derby team of dubious quality and even less confidence being gifted a training session by a static Norwich City team with players seemingly determined to play the unlikely percentages ball over improving the ball position, barely able to understand where their teammates are moving (on the rare occasion they move much off the ball).


I am very much seeing the latter. We have only one player (McLean) who is capable of passing with accuracy at range and thereby finding Sargent (who is otherwise so isolated as to be un-findable). Mattsson can and does play a wonderful slide rule pass, but is let down by Stacey’s breathless endeavour and awful decision making. Makama seems unable to control the ball, meaning our right-hand-side attack is mainly hoof the ball and hope. Stacey makes good runs, but then cannot pick out a man. And it’s not as if we even look that solid defensively again…
