A Maccabi statement read: “Following the police’s decision, it was determined that the Tel Aviv derby will not take place tonight.” Maccabi distanced themselves from disturbances and claimed the postponement “was as a result of flares thrown on to the pitch by fans of our opponent Hapoel.” It came after Maccabi supporters were informed last week that they would not be allowed to attend November’s Europa League game against Aston Villa in Birmingham. Birmingham’s safety advisory group – made up of local stakeholders, West Midlands police and event organisers – said the decision had been made due to a high risk of violence our police banned them a week before this happend
“Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv say they will not accept any ticket allocation from Aston Villa if the decision to ban their supporters from next month's Europa League match is overturned.” https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c3w98224xx8o On Thursday, West Midlands Police said it had classified the fixture as "high risk" based on current intelligence and previous incidents, including "violent clashes and hate crime offences" between Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv fans before a match in Amsterdam, in November 2024.
At last, some common sense being applied by football people. Looks like the politicians have egg on their faces.
After the thousands of civilian casualties this was a literal bombshell with all those Israelis arriving. I was at the World Cup, when Poland played in Germany, and the hatred was horrendous, some serious violence. That was after decades but this conflict is ongoing despite the claims of a ceasefire. I’m sure the government would’ve found a way to allow away fans to attend but it’s a huge effort/cost/risk for a football match … … hopefully people will calm themselves down a little.
The damage was already done, with all the publicity inflaming the situation, when they could have just got on with match arrangements quietly with efficient policing and minimal fuss. It's better they say they're not coming anyway now, so that puts an end to it all. Which fans started the trouble in the ajax game? Ajax v Maccabi Tel Aviv 59 arrests: 49 Ajax fans, 10 Maccabi fans 5 injuries: All Maccabi fans
Starting trouble doesn’t always mean you're the ones to finish it … … Adolf found that out the hard way and ended up chewing on a cyanide pill.
Same article but the truth omitted as usual, twisting the truth. But Maccabi Tel Aviv now say supporters will not travel for safety reasons - that "a toxic atmosphere has been created which makes the safety of our fans wishing to attend very much in doubt".They added it was "completely unacceptable" that the match has been "weaponised to stoke violence and fear by those who seek to divide us". Solution if Villa cant keep their fans in check make them play behind closed doors Thanks to a mad iman threatening violence against them check the article for yourselves
I wouldn't hold your breath, they've been fighting for at least 3,000 years, I don't think that would change even if God appeared and told them to stop.
I posted the headline and the link to the whole article. Nothing was omitted and people can choose to read the whole article or not. You didn't post the entire article so, by your logic, you're omitting the truth. “Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv say they will not accept any ticket allocation from Aston Villa if the decision to ban their supporters from next month's Europa League match is overturned.” https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c3w98224xx8o
why would i hold my breath mate ? ive already posted 3 times the match should be played behind closed doors, but its escaped notice.Sunny and Shia have form100s of years fighting over religion, only now they have a common enemy Jews. Why should we have to fork out to police them if they cant police themselves. Why wasnt the Iman arrested for hate speech, Britsh women have been jailed for less 2 tier again. If fifa had any balls they would pick a neutral ground, not punish Tel Aviv for protecting their fans from valid threats.
That's because it's absolute nonsense and there's no chance of it happening. You're asking for 30,000 decent Villa fans to be stopped from going to their game ... ... but didn't want the away fans stopped. Now Maccabi have decided they don't want tickets there's no reason to play the game behind closed doors. If anyone, on here, agrees with you I'll be amazed tbh. ...
You only post what you want people to read, to make them think you were right all along, when you were clearly proved wrong and scarped Shabana Mahmood’s did know a week before you were wrong
Truth twister you posted an exert what you wanted people to form an opinion on, and omitted the important part, so people would think they had been banned when it was them who canceled ,due to fear for their fans from a Birmingham Iman issuing threats, but the police left him alone 2 tier justice watch the vid and educate yourself. Just like you went on for ages about Mahmood not knowing a week in advance and i posted that she did with proof . you just cant let it drop even when your wrong but dont have the balls to admit it
