Ukelele's just a bit annoying, the chords are completely different from guitar so it kind of screws with your mind if you try to play both. It's worth learning even if it's just to do a George Formby impression <laugh> I always thought balalaika was a Greek dessert! <yikes> I knew you'd have some sort of random instrument!

Bloody hell! Talk about diverse! I can imagine it'd be hell trying to lug a piano around every 6 months or whatever <laugh> My sister plays the flute, i've tried it a couple of times and it's bloody impossible! Even getting it to make a **** noise is difficult, let alone anything coherent <laugh> Closest i've got to playing anything like that is recorder when i was about 10. Three Blind Mice (or something that was close enough to it) was pretty much the only thing i could play!

<laugh> I was going to say, I'd be instantly cleaning windows the second I got hold of a ukulele. Fantastic.

Yeah that's the thing with the flute - after I've spent a good 5 minutes carefully positioning it right so I can even get sound out of it, I then have to carefully balance my hands to hold it up in the correct position while changing fingering. Impossible! <laugh>

Two ukulele players?! Insane. I don't think I've ever known one person who owned one until now!

...and that's why flutes work much better as drum sticks <ok>

Can you not just invent a fake one and have a few mates who can play instruments jam together for performance shots?

<laugh> I am so obviously going to do this later on.

We need music that they've created, as that was my first idea <laugh>

Could buy a cheapish vocal mic and make a reasonable quality demo that you could use. If it's the writing part that is the stumbling block that's a piece of piss especially since it doesnt even have to be great.

I was gonna say Amnesiac, can you not just do what Coldplay do and steal someone else's songs but say it's yours? <whistle>

The sad thing is, it would be me doing it all. None of my friends have the same level of interest in music that I do, none of them play instruments either. I'd just have them talking about stuff they have no idea about and sounding clueless throughout. I thought I'd enjoy this project until I found out I have to find a band <laugh>

Yep just a normal 12 hole chromatic.

I have also tried to play the flute and I am pretty sure that it was designed to make people look foolish. I have got an old violin as well which I can't play yet but I like plucking the strings of it.

<laugh> yeah it's not easy finding people with the same level of interest. Most bands have one guy who is obsessed with music and ends up being the driving force while the others tag along and put in minimal effort unfortunately.

Good luck finding somebody though, if all else fails just duplicate yourself digitally and play different instruments with fake moustaches and wigs.

I used to play chromatic as a kid and then got a bunch of blues harps too - great instrument and surprisingly hard to master. I'd also love to play the violin or the cello, gorgeous instruments. I tried the cello once in a music store and picked the basics up pretty quick but I can't even hold the violin - it just makes no sense to me how you can balance it there without breaking your jaw <laugh>.

I can hold it ok, the problem with the violin is that there are literally only two ways of playing it with nothing inbetween: really really badly, or really well.

<laugh> Yeah, it's not one to start to learn if you live in a block of flats either. Much like the Oboe.
