I've got for an unorthodox 3-4-3 with a sweeper and 2 wing backs

    Schmiechel
    Beckenbaur
    Carlos Alberto
    Baresi
    Maldini
    Breitner
    Charlton
    Cruyff
    Best
    Ronaldo (Brazillian)

Messi is way better than Ronaldo, far more consistant.

Being born in only 86, it would be wrong for me to do one of 'all time' because I didn't get to see a lot of the players being mentioned, so I'll do one for the last 20 odd years <ok>.

Bench: Buffon, Terry, Thuram, Rijkaard, Deco, Zola, Romario

Now even that was hard! Not necessarily right but it's who I'd have <ok>

With Xavi and Iniesta behind him in recent years no wonder messis been brilliant, C.Ronaldo is technically much better and use to win games on his own for Man u, Messi won't be as good as C.Ronaldo in my opinion untill his proved himself in the PL. Goal Difference doesn't matter in La Liga so teams play more open, i'd love to see Messi play in Barca v Stoke, see how he fairs then on a cold rainy night

Who scored more last season? in more games? Messi? Ronaldo?
Who helped his team win the league and champions league? Who didn't?

You don't make a convincing argument, wouldn't have either in my XI anyways certainly not Ronaldo the winker, fat Ronaldo yes

If you ask me the ridiculous flight of footballs these days suits Ronaldo no end

Even as a United fan that loves Ronaldo, I'd struggle to argue why you should pick Ronaldo over Messi. It seems typical these days that one can't praise one player without degenrating another player.

In an ideal world you'd find a formation that worked with Messi and Ronaldo both in it, they're both brilliant players and deservedly recognised as the best two players in the worl for the last couple of years. That said, I doubt a team with them both in would work as well as it's parts suggest it should in reality.

4-3-3 with Messi and C.Ronaldo on the flanks of the forward 3, and if you had a good CF, you could have all 3 of them interchange.
