I cannot see it happening. JWP several seasons ago would clearly add benefit. Not sure that is the case now. More wishful thinking from West Ham.

Better to spend the money on a forward line.

Players coming back to us? Trying to think of successful precedents. The only one that springs to mind is Mick Channon.

With due respect to JWP, he’s not in the same class (few are). And as others have said not really where we need someone.

Of course if he comes back it’ll be an emotional return. But then so was Theo’s. And that went well.

You’re understating the positive impact in the dressing room.

Or we could plump for a mental wildcard like Mario Balotelli or Diego Costa :emoticon-0110-tongu

They'd have to widen the dressing room door to get his ego in.

Pretty sure he'll have lost a bit of pace but he's certainly going to be harder to push off the ball now....

We have one striker who is injured, and another who is a total car crash.

You want to add a third; a player who got seriously injured, in a car crash?

On paper the team should have goals in it but something isn't clicking there.

We're shipping less goals than last season and the defence will get better over the season so the decision to change the goalkeeper can be pushed back to the summer when Ramsdale's situation is clearer.

I'd love to have a player that you just know that given a chance or two they will bury one game in game out but I also can't think who we could seriously tempt in January that is going to be that 20+ goals a season (talismanic?) player that everyone seems to want who won't be either a ridiculous price and / or a ridiculous wage and / or actually interested.

I'm also all for "if you're good enough, you're old enough" but there'll only be a handful of players at 17-19 that would thrive on the expectation / pressure as opposed to wilt - who in our current youth could come in under that?

Especially as there is unlikely to be much on offer to buy in January that is not overpriced.
