Give it a rest mate it becoming boring, did your parents ever say a poem to you when you were young about sticks and stones. People come on here to read and post about political situations not about snivelling cry babies

Good read, one of the main problems with the main parties are they are lead by a small group of blinkered members, when the cons were struggling all you heard was we need to move more to the right, now Labour, all we seem to hear is they need to move more to the left to fight Reform both opposite direction to what the vast majority wants.

The main problem is the system. Not enough qualified people making intelligent decisions.....far too many soundbite policy thrusts designed in the short term to gain votes to retain or gain power. No honesty and recognition that the problems we face have been decades in the making and will take decades to fix. There is no short term answer...the system is broken, and until it's changed,we will continue to limp.

Problem with politics is that, to me it is an important job being an MP. Yes you need no experience in anything or qualifications to be an MP. You should have to be a min 30yo with real life experiences to be an MP not just straight out of uni or been a political researcher in a small political bubble. You should also have some connections to the seat you are trying to win.

You're quite right in identifying that the selection by the prospective parties of their election candidates is based more on background, ethnicity, looks, ability to communicate, far more than it is based on life experience and connection to the constituency area, which goes to my point about the dash for votes.
One of the main problems, which, imo, has added to the fundamental problems in the last 30 years or so,has been the lack of career committment by prospective candidates. Many of them simply see becoming an MP as a step to an enhanced monetised life elsewhere after a 5 or 10 years stint in office, contributing to the short-termism I'm railing against. We don't seem to have any statesmen/women any more......they're all too fickle and don't command any feelings of inspiration.

Indeed. Even the political characters of the past that I disliked (mainly conservative), I had respect for. They had gravitas and were strong politicians.

‘Labour are doing great with the NHS. Waiting times are coming down all the time.
Nobody is giving them the credit that they deserve for this’

NHS waiting lists for planned treatment in England rose again in August — the third month in a row — to 7.41 million procedures - about 12,000 more than in July.

I saw that being discussed on TV in parliament. They said the list don't show the number of cancellations, So it looks like the lists have indeed come down , but after a month or so you have to take into account all of the cancellations. My daughter's friend needs an op to replace a battery that sends the signals for her bodily functions to work, It's just been cancelled again that's 3 times, How this poor girl suffers is beyond a joke, she is now housebound as the strain of even walking could cause an attack.
