Before the ECHR, the UK's system of rights was based on historic documents like the Magna Carta (1215), the Habeas Corpus Act (1679), and the Bill of Rights (1689), which established rights to a fair trial, habeas corpus, and limited the monarch's power. However, enforcing these rights was challenging, and after the UK joined the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in 1966, citizens could only challenge human rights violations by taking their cases to the court in Strasbourg.

Poland is a signatory of the ECHR but refuses to have 3rd World scum dumped on them they simply deport .

Ignoring the human rights lawyers that would tell them that Pakistani child rapists can't be deported because child rape is frowned upon back home .

The ECHR has been weaponised to give the rights of foreigners illegally in our country preference over our own citizens.

We were doing just fine up to 1966 , tyrannical authoritarianism is thriving in the UK in 2025 with Labour & our magical ECHR safety net.

If it’s ditched then the UK needs legislation to replace it. All encompassing protected rights .

I’m all for that , if it’s mirrors what protected rights ‘we’ have ie what the UK designed when setting up ECHR.

However, given recent developments re digital ID , possible digital currency etc , do we trust UK politicians to create something suitable for the ‘people’.

It’s would need to ensure our rights are protected when we travel abroad not just in UK.

We should then create all encompassing legislation then . Amendment to the Human Rights Act required .

Have that written and ratified then exit it.
