Agree with this. We still struggle for control in midfield and retaining possession, the main reason we've conceded so many IMHO.
??
We've just kept a clean sheet?
Coincidence that Hughes and Panda both had good games?
We've got Matazo coming back. Crooks back. Amir still settling in and getting used to the Championship. Gyabi still settling in, and at 21 will continue to develop as the season goes on. And proper wingers coming / to come back, which will ease the pressure.

I quite enjoyed that.

I know we weren't in full swing but we were playing a side that was (in theory) a Premier League one last year so it was always going to be a bit tricky (I know we've just beaten Southampton too - but still...)

I thought Amir had a decent game and Hughes seemed back to his best. Also credit for Slater who kept popping up to win the ball.

A 1-0 win is great for us considering the amount of goals we've conceded recently. Good atmosphere, enjoyable experience all round for me.

Love beating Sheff Utd.

All great for the future, I'm talking about now, this season so far. Yes we've just got a clean sheet but if you haven't noticed we've conceded more than any other club in the league, and today we absolutely rode our luck. Sheffield beat us in every metric of the game from XG to shots on target, touches in the oppo box and possession.

The talent they have in their squad for them to be bottom of the table!!

We gifted them a daft penalty (meaning not earned as such). Lucky I guess that their shot hit the post ... but Panda was there if it had been a few inches in.

McBurnie, Slater, Giles all had very good chances.

They had plenty of possession, but can't agree that "they could have won that at a canter". By that sort of logic, we could have won 4-0 (or 4-1, 4-2 or 4-3).

Anyway, very good result. :emoticon-0148-yes:
Need to,see it again but I thought it had gone through Pandur’s hands,

Giles was solid today defensively. The only things that went past him either went out for a goal kick or too long and past our box completely. They got him 1 on 1 several times and couldn't do anything.

Amir looks sloppy but hopefully with more games, he gets up to speed. Slater had a great game.

Gyabi and Akintola didn't do a great deal at all except shuffle side to side and point around a lot. McBurnie was getting really annoyed with them first half for not pushing with him.

Good for Pandur - that'll do him and the defence a world of good for confidence.

Also, the ‘foul’ for the penalty looked really soft from where I was sitting. Right decision or was it daft by Ajayi?
I'm in s2 so had a perfect view, he has lightly brushed against Ings' calf, Ings' has screamed and hit the floor like a man who's been 2 footed and the ref gave it....technically, it's a pen but the ref had let a LOT of soft ones go for both teams where players tried to buy a foul from minimal contact so I was a bit surprised he gave it

And breathe! Not the McBosh mauling I was hoping for, a tad nervy & squeaky bum time for the last 10 mins, it doesn’t get any easier being a City supporter does it?! Yes, we rode our luck several times, but you make your own luck, we grafted for that 3 points, a very valuable 3 points, well done the lads, determination & grit to get over the line with a clean sheet. And, for all his recent poor performances, Pandur pulled a good one out of his bag, do his confidence a world of good. At the time couldn’t understand McBosh subbed, but he was being targeted, already on a yellow, better than a sending off. Thought Slater had a point to prove, great game, and good to see Miller’s worth & development on road back. Don’t know what was up with Palmer, didn’t miss him, harsh but true. UTT, onwards & upwards.
